It happens - if you ski a lot some days you don't feel the love. Better to hang it up than try to hang in and turn it around which can make a meh day into a hateful day or worse get you injured because you're not properly in the zone and executing well. I mean its a dirty secret and not to be whispered to those keen beans who ski bell to bell balls to the wall every day but the crack of noon club and a few leisurely cruises can sometmes be all you need.

@stuarth, I can't help you but I can commissary. I feel the same. It had snowed in the mountains an hour north of me. I COULD have gone skiing last weekend, or even this one. But I just didn't feel like it.
Mind you, I had a rather enjoyable time last season. So I'm a little jaded this year.
One thing I'm missing is company. Skiing alone some of the time is bliss. But skiing alone every time for 2 seasons straight is getting rather depressing.

Yes understand the situation I just put it down to age when it happened to me. I have had to many high speed spills and become too cautious what is not good thing, but cruising and enjoying the scenery is fine for me these days.

Yes, I think that may be it.
Used to randomly meet up with people in the lodge and go for a few runs, go hiking, etc... can't really do that at the moment, so tend to be pottering around on my own.

I feel the same about cycling sometimes, just cant be bothered to get motivated but once I'm out I enjoy it.
I suppose if you live in the mountains, or close by them then it can just seem like a general day to day chore to ski. It's our holiday so maybe gets hyped more than driving 30 minuets to a lift.

Learn something new or a challenge of some sort. Telemark? XC? Heliski? See how many times you can ski all four corners of the area in a day, top bottom east / west or north / south. A good one in some resorts, see how late you can leave the furthest part of the resort without getting stranded when the lifts shut.
But most if all don’t feel bad about having a down day or week, despite many of us thinking the best option we may have is a few cm on the local golf course. It’s a long season, it can’t all be Stoke from start to finish.

Don't feel guilty! I would love to get to the mountains, and was due to head out to Les Arcs at the end of this week and again at the start of January. However, I've cancelled both, owing to the increased testing restrictions and the possibility of being stranded if I tested positive pre-return to UK. Nevertheless, I don't begrudge anyone who is able to ski. Go out and enjoy yourself, and do a few runs for the rest of us. I'm with you all the way.

@stuarth, Why not look to see if you could volunteer some time to help a disability ski charity - nothing rekindles your love for something you've become jaded with than seeing that spark start in someone else.

I guess if you really weren't feeling it and had been out the day before a log fire, coffee and biscottis and the game on tv I could understand as a substitute...maybe.... but "I went and sat in my truck" rather than ski........hmmmm things do sound bad.
Maybe try another discipline/skill on the mountain - if you ski, try telemarking or snowboarding.
Hear this a lot with golfers, probably due to the frustration levels of golf, but skiing? it's all good surely?
Sounds like you're maybe getting too much of a good thing, but it's only just into December so that can't be the case.

What if you already did that last season?
I started skate skiing right before the pandemic. So continued on that path all of last season. Perfect for social distancing. It was exciting. But what was "new" last season is not any more... hit the dreaded "plateau"! (more like a long uphill slog...)
Or learning yet another new skiing discipline? How many different way of sliding on snow that I can become mediocre at?

Unlike the UK skiers, north America skiers had the "luxury" of having access to ski slopes in the 20/21 season. It was a season of fresh air, soft snow, remote working and skiing mid-week. But it's also a season of long lines, reservations, lunch in the truck alone...
The skiing was just as good. But take away the extra "trimmings", the turkey doesn't taste the same.
For many of us, skiing isn't just about skiing. I for one, enjoy the travel, the change of scenery, eating out, spa, shopping... It's a whole package. Skiing is only a (albeit major) part of that package. This past summer, I travelled extensively. I got to enjoy fresh air and change of scenery, but also long wait on the limited restaurants (even for take out), closed shops, reduced service in hotels... that's not counting the reservation for testing, waiting to cross the various borders (between countries, but also between provinces )
Most years, I would plan to get away to the Rockies for at least 2 trips, maybe even 3. (That's on top of local skiing) But this year, despite having the freedom of working remote, I'm only planning to go out 1 trip. (to be fair, it'll be a longer one). I just don't feel like doing the 2nd trips.
Yeah, it's "too much" of skiing, not enough the other things that makes skiing enjoyable.
I know, it's sacrilege to say that.

Familiarity breeds contempt. Mix it up (to the extent the remaining roads will allow)! Go ski Baker, to remind yourself that Whistler's pretty good. Or ski runs at WB that you usually avoid; when I do that, invariably one surprises on the upside. And on those days you're indifferent about skiing, just call it exercise in the mountain air, its own privilege.
I know this to be true: hardly ever have I gone skiing and regretted it. But many times I've gone and had more fun than I expected. So when I'm struggling to get it up, I think of this and go, and it happens again.

Many UK skiers had access to the snow a mere 3 hour flight away:
May through June 2021. Until I got bored of the fermented skate.
On the OP, I just find more interesting stuff to do after a few weeks. Day 20 is never as good as day one, that's just how it works. I like that, as nothing would get done if it didn't work that way. I get less bored if something specific is happening eg an event or people I'd like to see/ ride with etc, but that's about the event/ people, not the snow. There are lots of other things to do. When I've been tied to a ski slope, I would generally learn something new eg snowboarding then noboarding. I'm still a rubbish surfer, hence I tend to get less bored on the beach at the moment.
My mates who live in ski resorts or the like mostly work there so it's not relevant: they have to eat.
Those who live there but don't work... they get more days than anyone else, but it's a social activity for them: they all ride with people they know all the time, never alone.

Think I nearly had a couple of CBA heli days this season, obviously got over that on the first drop, but always remind myself that when I’m sitting at work in December scratching mozzie bites and sweating my nuts off, I’ll be regretting not making the most of the snow in winter.
