Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

RIP Ron Le Master

The "Elite Skiing" FB page is reporting that: "Ron LeMaster, ski technician, author and lecturer was killed today in a collision involving a snowboarder at Eldora Ski area near his home in Boulder Co."

A tragedy for all involved. A big loss to skiing, esp those who wanted to dive deeper into the techniques and tactics.

That is terrible news.

His book really opened my eyes to how I think about ski technique (in a way that BASI manual doesn't quite manage).

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That is very upsetting news, especially the manner of his untimely death. His books have for a long time been my main technical reference works, one of which I have proudly signed by him when I heard him speak at a Snowsport England coaching conference a few years ago. He was the keynote speaker and made an extremely interesting presentation, and I bravely/foolishly decided to get involved in the Q&A session afterwards talking about what happens at the top of the turn, during which he pointed out some subtle flaws in my thinking. I spoke to him afterwards and we shared a joke. I think this photo was taken by @rjs who was also at the same conference.

RIP. It is indeed a big loss to skiing.

The book "the skiers edge" is a real classic, great technical explanations and diagrams. He really lived up to his name, big shame he is no longer with us.

Wow that is so sad, just recommended one of his books to someone.

Really sad. I think his books are outstanding. If anyone is remotely interested in how skiing works they should own one.

Without speculating as to the rights and wrongs of the collision, what an awful way for a man who has given so much to the sport to die.
