Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Da Kine Fall Line bag length

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All,

I'm planning to buy a new ski bag and like the look of the Da Kine fall line double ski bag.

They come in two lengths, 175cm and 190cm internally. My skis are 179cm Nordica enforcers and my wife's are 156cm.

I'd rather not buy the longer bag and have an extra 11cm flapping around, so does anyone know if there is enough space in the 175cm bag to fit the extra 4cm of my skis in? 4cm seems like a very small amount, but no idea how tight a fit the bag is.

You would be pushing it with the 179cm :: I have a 165cm (oldish) bag : I have just tried with my 162cm skis ; I 'extended' them and 166cm was the max (without stretching the bag too much..)

Just tried again with an extendable pole and managed 170cm with it rammed against the ends...

Note - the bag is 8 or 10 years old, so sizes may have changed....

I also have an older Fall Line double bag in 190 - my 194cm skis fit in no problem.

I have the 190 and my 177 skis flap around in it, I'd have probably got away with the 175. But once I get a couple of pairs in and plenty of kit it may have been too tight. I decided it was worth the bigger one as it fits in with BA's baggage policy anyway. The top end of it is probably flexible enough to give you the 4cm I'd have thought.

Appreciate you going to the effort of actually seeing what would fit, thank you.

Same - in fact I'm pretty sure I used to get 190 skis in a 185 Low Roller so I think DaKine stated lengths are pretty conservative.

I'm hoping to avoid the need for that with my question on here! Its a pain arranging returns....

I've got the 190cm. My skis are 170cm. I store my helmet wrapped in bubble wrap at the handle end. I tend not to drag the bag anyway. I have it resting upright against my shoulder and push it along. Works a treat.

I have the 175cm version i've got scott slights (175cm) and there is approximately 11cm above the tips i just measured it so as has been mentioned previously fairly conservative with their sizing.

Brilliant. That's exactly the info i was hoping for. Thanks for measuring.

I'm going to buy the 175cm size and blame 'andseven' if my skis don't fit Very Happy

Thanks to all who responded to my question

@lower, adding to the evidence, mine takes my 177 Soul Riders with no problem so you'll be fine.

Brilliant, thank you. That does also put you into the potential circle of blame though Very Happy

 You know it makes sense.

@lower, I'm pretty confident that you can't get to me to do anything about it right now though. Same logic as in bear country: you don't need to be able to outrun the bear, just (at least) one of your companions. Eh oh! Eh oh!

My 179 whitedot altums are currently IN a 175 dakine fall Line. Tight but fit.

One problem is skis appear to be measured as the surface length, following camber etc. But the bag is the straight line length... So you probably need a tape measure)

Thank you. I've just ordered the 175cm bag, so i'll find out for sure if my skis fit when it arrives.

The people who advised me that they’ll fit in a 175cm bag were correct! They fit!

I’m having to put them in with the tips at the wheels end of the bag, so that the rocker follows the shape of the bag, but otherwise perfect.

Thanks to all who’ve helped me avoid a returned oversize bag.
