Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Best ski resort for a month in Italy

 Poster: A snowHead

What is the best ski resort/ village to settle in for a month of ski in Italy? Looking for suggestions…
I’m looking for an apartment (not hotel), lots of slopes and have no car. Very Happy
Thanks!

@Grace Underwood, welcome to the forum.

There are people more expert on Italy than me, but I would be looking for somewhere linked in to a big ski area if you are staying for a month. Sella Ronda in the East, or Milky Way in the West would meet your needs. A possible alternative might be somewhere in the Aosta valley since quite a few of the resorts are on a public bus route. I think most Italian ski resorts have apartment options.

I would stay in Brunico. Direct access to plan de coroners, train link to the 3 peak area and Rio Pusteria (these are ski trains and u can carry yr skis). Bus link to sella ronda (corvara) 1 Hr journey. Brunico is a Cute town with lots of restaurants , Only problem It s not a cheap place. Good luck

Probably January. I don’t have a specific budget but since I’ll have to pay rent for a month, cheaper will be better… Smile

Possa di Fassa ...a lively little town a bit out of the way but the buses run up to Alba .and the accomodation is a bit cheaper there..If you are taking a car its in easy reach of Cortina and there are so many places to ski in the Dolomiti Superski you wont get bored

We're (hopefully!) doing two months in Italy this year, and have found an apartment in Aosta. Bit cheaper than the Dollies towns or ski resorts, it's a doable train from Turin and there's a gondola directly out of town to Pila. Decent looking bus and train services through the valley to get to Cervinia, Champoluc and other resorts. Buses to x country skiing areas as well (for something different!).

Looks like a fun location, the food is reputedly excellent, so fingers crossed!

We’re looking at a month in 2023 and decided val di fassa was a good option but agree you’d need a car to make the most of things. But Canazei has good access to SR and at least one supermarket so might be ok without a car.

OP, you’re limiting things if you don’t have a car but Alta Badia is another option. Access to SR, Val Gardena, Kronplatz, Val di Fassa and Cortina (via new lift) quite easily without driving plus a few other resorts by combination of Ski & bus e.g. Allege. Corvara has a couple of “supermarkets” more like decent sized UK co-ops
Depends how big a place you want to stay.

I'd try either of the three resorts in the Val Gardena. Great access too the Sella Ronda and good choice of apartments, bars, supermarkets, shops, busses. The villages are sunny and have great ski-in ski out access.
