Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can you adjust the AFD on a Marker 10TP binding? It doesn’t have the normal adjustment screw in front of the toe.

You don't. It's fixed height with the AFD profiled for both alpine and GripWalk soles.

Thanks guys, the toe bail for the black diamond shivas is too tall to fit them unfortunately. Was hoping for a hidden afd adjustment but not meant to be.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@ScrambledLegs, Sounds like you've got the AT soles installed. The Shiva will only work in that binding with the alpline sole blocks installed.

Do the old yellow shivas have both AT and Alpine sole inserts? Could I find some alpine ones still? The Garmont Radium’s wouldn’t fit the bindings either.

Why the f are you trying to put AT soled boots in to bindings that aren't compatible for them. The only non touring bindings that will except them are the Warden 11/13 MNC's, the Marker Royal range with the ID toes and the Tyrolia/Head Attack AT's.

As long as the grip only rests on the AFD without excessive pressure, the release mechanism isn’t affected. If it’s a stationary friction plate then I wouldn’t consider it.

Thanks for the offer, I think she’ll look for some new boots instead though. It’s the blizzard 7.7 ski with the rails too.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

But that's just it, the Marker 10TP would apply greatly excessive pressure with a rockered AT sole, assuming that you could even jam a boot in there in the first place. If that binding could do that then it'd have an ISO 9523 designation - but it doesn't, it's ISO 5355 only. I've torque tested dozens on AT sole/alpine ISO 5355 binding combo's and not found one that performed within spec without having to grind the sole of the boot.
