Hi all, I have noticed that you can buy a VIP pass at Geneva airport for 45chf, which gives you priority through security and 3hour access to 2 of its lounges, with complimentary food and drinks (including booze!!).
It is fully refundable up to the day before departure, so not much of a gamble if all has to be cancelled, but wanted to see if anyone has used it and their experiences.
you cannot seem to purchase the lounge pass without security access through Geneva airport website, but buying it separately via 3rd party suppliers only saves about £5, so may as well skip the longer queue, as a pint in the lounge will cover that
last time I flew from Geneva, six or seven years ago, the security queue was fairly long, and there was barely bug all the other side to get food and drinks from.
when I fly back on boxing day, I will have around 3 hours to kill due to the time my transfer arrives at the airport and my departure time.

I frequently paid for fast track when i was work travelling short haul. Lounges in GVA are ok. You will have access to Dnata lounge which is comfortable with good airside views. Wifi, charging points everywhere. Its more snacks than meals but you wont starve and booze is included. Its used by the middle east airlines aa their lounge so its empty except for two flights per day. Id do it as GVA airside is crap

i use lounges all the time.
By the time you buy food & beer or 2, it usually works out not much more.

thanks @Nadenoodlee, it says either Dnata or Horizon lounge, assume you have to choose which one to go to, but as a bit of a plane geek i was leaning towards the Dnata lounge.
@Mr.Egg, that's what i thought about the cost as well, taking into account of the usual price of things airside!!!!
by contrast, i was also looking into the lounges at gatwick on the way out, but not sure they are worth it for a similar cost but with only 2 hour access, would probably only get 45 mins use out of it, by the time bag drop opens and flight departs (2hrs!!!). not really interested in booze at 4 o'clock in the morning, and most of the revues are less than complimentary about their experiences there!!!

@terrygasson, No.1 at Gatwick is my favourite - I used to priority pass into there rather than use the BA lounge for a time. I like all the spaces - sitting up at the bar, and the food is brought to you. Best ever brownies too.

@terrygasson, Dnata used to have slightly better food, although Horizon used to have nice pain au miel ham rolls. Many a day that was my lunch! I think I'd go Dnata.
Best food I had available was the Swiss business class lounge but that won't be on the VIP ticket.
Haven't used Gatwick lounges since the crise, but the No.1 used to do a reasonable beans on toast for brekky.

cheers for replies, have bought the Geneva VIP pass for return journey, can cancel 24hrs before if it all goes belly up by then, but will give Gatwick a miss, as cannot see the point for approx. 45mins use!!

@terrygasson, we had "unlimited" priority passes for many years so used the lounges all the time.
Security priority a better thing actually, which we now often get with queasyjet (their "plus" card worthwhile for luggage gets you security, if you fly often enough). That said if Geneva are running their "new" scanning corridor, that's quick and easy.

@under a new name, Tuesday used to be Texas beef stew in the Swiss lounge and I may have set up meetings purely with that in mind.

@Nadenoodlee, ah, very fine. Personally, I rather liked the Horizon rolls, very disappointed on days when they weren't available. And also handy to surreptitiously "export" for consumption later, if required.

@under a new name, also Horizon opened 30mins earlier so if you were on the early flights then it was your best option!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@terrygasson, You could look around at lounge passes then buy the security fast track separately and maybe save more. I know that the Telegraph are doing £20 dragonpass passes (but you would need to subscribe to the Telegraph which might be a step too far for some).
Priority pass was selling basic annual at half price then each entry for £20. Then you would have the annual membership.
Also make sure the lounge opening times are correctly shown and work for you.

@ster, thanks for the info, i had looked at buying individually, but to be honest was not much of a saving, so just bought direct via Geneva airport website, and posted opening times work for me.
TBH, not much point in buying an annual pass, as the only other time i will be flying is with my daughters in feb, and timings don't work for having lounge passes.
cheers anyway
