Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi

A family member will be doing some ski race training with a guide (they are a VI skier) and we need to get them insurance to cover it as our current insurance may not, any ideas who we could use, There are no actual races yet, just training, thanks in advance.

If its amateur only, Snowcard covers it at a price.

Always struck me as one of those many grey areas in ski insurance- what happens when the ski instructor puts up some brush or stubby gates? Or takes the class down the punter timed slalom course?

Friends had a claim for a broken ski during ESF race training, which their normal holiday insurance (via Halifax account IIRC) covered with no questions.

That doesn't provide race insurance, only third party liability cover. Snowsport England do advertise a separate travel insurance policy that can include race insurance.

There was a thread a few months ago asking whether standard Carte/Carre Neige would cover doing an ESF race, my reading of the policy was that it did. The wording was that you were covered for anything that didn't require a competition licence to enter, the French ski competition licence includes an enhanced version of Carte Neige that covers all categories of race.

Who will be running the race training?

@Zorrac, we use MPI for race cover. We found that some other policies put limits on the number of days that one could race, so it’s worth checking the small print.
