Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zurich airport transfer/ taxi companies

Wondering if anyone has a reliable transfer company they would recommend for Zurich airport (going to Andermatt)?

I’ve looked online and there are lots of websites, many of which seem slightly suspect (or get terrible reviews).

Hence looking for recommendations.

Many thanks in advance!

Myself and family would be traveling on December 18th Zurich airport to Andermatt. Looked at the car rental and taxis. Seems the swiss railway is most convenient and reasonably priced, 18 CHF per person, just over 2 hours, change at Zurich HB and Göschenen.

Go by train, inexpensive and reliable. https://www.sbb.ch/en

I have only ever used a swiss taxi once in my 3.5yrs of Zurich residence. Don’t intend to do it again.

Trains- even with skis/luggage etc are your best bet. They’re geared up for it. Incredibly reliable, clean and comfortable.

I have this question too, lurking as I am going from Zurich to Lenzerheide (Chur). Is it really doable - large family, young children, lots of luggage, peak half term/winter snow sports week? The thought of such journey in the UK fills me with dread (although I use local trains daily).
Tour operator always took us on a (deliberately fairly empty) coach but we are going it alone this year.

@Skimum1, The Swiss trains are great for regular travel with skis, lots of luggage and families.

At Zurich airport take the escalator down to the railway platform beneath the airport; your luggage piled onto a trolley goes on the escalator (or lift), you will usually have one change of platform at Zurich HB (the main railway station in Zurich) for the direct train to Chur.

It's a lot less hassle than a coach - BUT book early to get cheaper tickets!

@oui4ski, thanks so much. It sounds good! I tried the link above but it wouldn't even give me prices as I'm not within the booking period (?). I have fired off an email to the Switz Travel Centre in the city as there are all sorts of half price/family passes on offer - hopefully that will shed some light.

@Skiskiski1, sorry for hijacking, hope this is some use to you too!

@Skimum1, i have a 2yr old and a 5yr old and would always take the train. The family carriages also have an indoor playground - usually absolute carnage but they love it

Hello
If you've flights booked, train from Zurich is a breeze. You can take your baggage trolley down the escalators or look out for lifts.
The airport has a couple of supermarkets if you want to top up on snacks.
Return journey, if you have time to kill the airport viewing area (free on some airlines) is brilliant for kids, outdoor playground.
Travelled this way multiple times with 2 kids , luggage and skis.
A few moments of huffing, puffing and lifting stuff but it's easy.
Look out for the Swiss travel deals...little people often travel foc with a full fare adult.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Oh...forgot to add, look at the SBB app, it gives you the expected level of occupancy on each train, it's accurate. We've lost 30 minutes in airport to get the less busy train.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
