Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi Snowheads, we may reluctantly have to move our Feb half term week in Pila to the Easter hols. Is Pila a feasible option for the first week of April? Their closing dates are 18th so should be open still but worried about the snow conditions that late in the season. Or should we look elsewhere? Cervinia? Val Thorens? We have booked a half board hotel in Pila so would like to not lose our deposit!

I have not been there in April, but Pila is largely north-facing and mostly above 1,900m, so given my experience of similar areas at that time of the year, I would not be particularly worried in the first week of April (assuming 2nd-9th April?). I would certainly take the relatively low risk of slush / bare patches over losing a deposit!
And south-facing Cervinia is likely to be even slushier, despite being higher.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes, we would be looking at the first week of the easter hols, so going 2nd or 3rd of April. A bit more digging on this forum Pila looks like a good choice for late season!

Been to Pila at Easter a couple of times. It has been pretty good on those occasions - good snow above the Hermitage restaurant, but a track one skier wide from the Maison de Jean down to the Gondola. Think they got Bobby Charlton’s barber in to do that section
