Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

saxabar, nah didn't get any calendar, didn't know there was one. I actually respect a lot of skiers (not the ones that rip the widdle out of snowboarders) and would like to learn to ski. Since we came along their sport has improved vastly and there are some very impressive things done on skis that look like a lot of fun.

mista, same here, I'm only 'willy waving'. I used to ski a bit when younger and, given the time, would like to do a lot more... Or it could just be the repressed dayglo gimp in me wink

As you can tell I always put safety first Laughing

Also after 3 hours on skis I have come down a nasty steep icy red. I'd love to pull a 360 or 540 or something and learn to ski switch in my first week just to take the mick out of any skiers who say that it is 'technically' more difficult...

I really can't see anything that difficult about skiing. I think, for most of those on sH, it is a sensation (Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance type thing). Nothing wrong with that but it gets a bit boring when we get chastised as being unruly morons, although I quite like the unruly bit. I have full respect for the slalom peeps and would like to have a crack at that myself given time and lessons. And then there's the freestyle skiing! It doesn't get discussed here very often but how good does Tanner Hall look doing the Apocalypse Now 720?! Although the consensus on the surface is live and let be, I detect snobbery and jealousy underneath Twisted Evil
