Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Wanted: Fun Gs/piste skis

Hi snow heads,

I seem to spend a lot of time on piste these days due to skiing with friends. I love my powder skis but they are a bit slow edge to edge!

Is anyone selling a pair of GS/skiercross or expert piste skis? I don't really want to spend over £250. I'm looking for something lively that I can push. I'm 5ft 9 FYI. London or midlands based

Thanks

Call Terry at Ski Bartlett as they have a number of previous years race skis at great prices and which won't be on their website.

Those look great!! I fear they are slightly too long for me to enjoy for a whole day on piste (I'm on 72kg).

Just as a thought - have you considered SL skis rather than GS?

I spend a lot of time on piste skiing with others too and I find, by the time I get a decent GS ski in the window where it's designed to perform, I've left everyone behind... either that or, public pistes being kinda 'public' it's all too often not safe/considerate to get them into that window in the first place Confused
To my mind, a decent SL ski feels as exciting at 30mph as a GS does at 50mph and you get more turns in snowHead

Yeah you know what I've always been tempted by a pair of Slalom skis! You're right about getting into a flow but finding yourself far ahead of the group. Taking your suggestion on board, I think I'm going to try and find a rental shop in resort that rent me some slalom skis for a day (even if they are consumer rather than actual race versions).

SL skis are hard work for group skiing. If you are using them properly you put in about 30-40 turns in while others are putting in 4 or 5, it's kinda the opposite problem of a GS ski.
