Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tignes/Val d'Isère early December ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all we're looking at a sneaky early week in Tignes from 1st Dec. I've never been so early before and am a little concerned about snow cover - if there's not been much snowfall I guess there'll only be the glacier and main runs with cannon snow? Would peebs recommend Tignes for that week or is there a better option elsewhere in Europe? TIA

That early, your options in that area will probably be limited to Val Thorens or Tignes/ValDiz - not many other resorts will even be open till a week or two later. If there is not enough natural snow to ski in Tignes or ValT then chances are there won't be anywhere close by in a better position either. If you're set on 1st Dec, and can't wait till 30th Nov to book, then Tignes is probably the safest option due to the glacier. However, even if there is a major dump of snow before you go, don't expect the entire area shown on the piste map to be open.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That early on in the season Tignes would be your best bet.
