Any suggestions for a new name for the Espace Killy over Tignes/Val D'Isere?
I was thinking about the 'n' Valleys, but I can't figure out a value for 'n' - any suggestions?

@Kenzie, are the French saying they are looking for a new name for the area?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

No idea why they need to rename it.
He is, after all, a local legend.
Mind you, I still call the lift up to Toviere the "Aeroski"

@Alastair Pink,
They've already renamed it. I wonder how much they paid some consultant to come up with 'Tignes/Val D'Isere'?

Espace Kelly would be popular with the Irish (and not be popular with the French punters)!!

I heard the families had a bit of a falling out which is why none of the piste maps etc carry Espace Killy anymore. No idea if that's true, but noticed a few years ago they'd stopped using the Killy name.

How about Val D'Isere/Tignes?
|

If it really did need to be renamed, it would be good to keep the Isère part, given that the ski area is spread along that valley (Val d'Isère side but also the bottom of the Tignes side).
Monts d'Isère?
Isère Ski?
or whatever the French for "head of Isère" is?

 You know it makes sense.

Interesting how they have phased the use of Espace Killy out - never realised - though the website is still active: http://www.espacekilly.com/
I wonder if from a marketing perspective it just wasn't working for them anymore - the younger generation will not know who the great Killy was and the brand identities of each resort were stronger than the collective.

@barracuda, That's pretty much as I understand it. The dekillyisation started about 3 seasons ago. Completely erased just before covid.

Makes sense. Some of the more casual skiers honestly wouldn't know what/where espace killy is, but all know "tiges/Val d".

i thought the name Killys’ place was fairly recent anyway, only since about the late 1980s ?

Weird that. Paradiski seems to be quite well used for Les Arcs/La Plagne yet these two resorts are only linked by a single cable car that most skiers in ether resort won't use (It is massively underutilised). On the other hand most of us skiing Val d'Isere/Tignes will be crossing back and forth several times a day or at least once a day.
I cannot recall but can you even buy a lift pss for Tignes for longer than a single day?
