One thing struck me at yesterday's ski test. Skis have become very viusally boring - where are the vomiting clowns, neon tartan mishmashs and the uzi toting helicopter graphics these days. Line used to have art from Eric Pollard and his missus - this year the range seemed to be basically Paint it Black.
Snowboards I glanced around didn't seem to be that exciting either.
New austerity in the hardware market? Against this the flashy yellow demo bindings @midgetbiker seemed to have installed on a pair of Whitedots really stood out.

@Dave of the Marmottes, just as well I couldn't go, much as I love my Scotts, I hate the girly graphics (and the bloody twin tips.) I would have been sorely tempted by something boring.

I have older Scott Punisher twintips that I use for Scottish skiing (fatties, great on crud) and the graphics are mental - had a few people double taking in queues !!

Can't see the artwork when they're covered in snow or when I'm skiing, since I try to look down the piste not at my skis. Plain black (or other acceptable shade) sounds perfect.
Same for bikes. Fancy paint job is only going to get plastered in mud and dinged by stones etc., and I'm not going to see that either if looking down the trail. Hence why I say plain black is the only correct colour for bikes.

Dave of the Marmottes, its not just the skis - the outfits are all black or grey too. Or white.
So hard now to spot your mates
Bring back the wonderful bright garish outfits, I say.

Black skis look great until they've been skied over a few times..

I have noticed a recent trend in gangs of teenage boys - all black streetwear with a Arc, NF, ME Jacket etc - obviously deep pockets of Mum & Dad,

That's one of the very few skis I've noticed with actual artwork on it. |
That artwork looks like an Icelantic rip-off to me. Very much in the Travis Parr style.

Sign o' the times. When the market is unpredictable, you don't want to go with something too Marmite.

I see Korua are making a split board with base material on the top sheet. Wax du jour will keep snow from sticking and keep it lighter for the way up. Should be easy to repair too. Great idea.

Loved my old dynastar extremes, especially the lurid fluorescent orange bases.
