Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cervinia hotels

 Poster: A snowHead

I am in the process of booking Christmas and considering various options in Cervinia and Les Arcs. Currently hotel options in Cervinia include Compagnoni , Meynet and Astoria. Wonder if anyone knows these and can recommend which one is better for a family with kids ( ages 7,11 - have skied before). All seem well located but which one is better for the ski school meeting point for example? It seems that most school meeting on top of Plan Maison and yet other meet near Cretan - but not too clear on this. Also should l look at any others hotels instead?

The Astoria is right next to the Cable car for Plan Maison, up a steep hill from main village area (I'm thinking the Cretaz meeting area is for absolute beginners).
I like the Hotel Breuil - it over looks the Cretaz beginners area and the food is better than in the Astoria (mind, it is 10 years since I stayed at the Astoria...)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@albob, thank you. Will look into this hotel as well. Yes l guess as my kids are not beginners they would probably be meeting by Plan Maison. Is it really quite a hike or doable in the morning? Or is it possible to ski there from Cretaz lift?

From Cretaz it is two lifts and then a ski down to Plan ; the walk to the Plan bottom station is perfectly doable from main village, just it ends up with a steep path (young un's will breeze it tho'...)

edit - you can see the path on google maps and walk the road in streetview..

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Just to add -- I'm fairly certain that there are Lockers up at Plan Maison (and possibly at the bottom station?).

Would save walking in ski boots and carrying skis (apart from first/last trip of course.....!)

We’re in the Europa in April, my eldest daughter has been there and has recommended it for position. Her husband had lessons. Good food and from a child perspective a swimming pool. It, like all others could be pricey at Christmas

We always stay at the Edelweiss Hotel just down from the main street. It's comfortable, friendly, family run and there's a free shuttle to the lifts every day (even though it's easily walkable). www.matterhorn.it

Just to add that the ski lift co confirmed that there are definitely no lockers / changing facilities at the base station of the gondola/cable car.
