Poster: A snowHead

Hi folks
Looking at an Easter trip 2022 and have two options but concerned about the lateness of Easter...
1) Saint Sorlin (already paid for as it was an annual trip from several seasons ago and has repeatedly been pushed back cos of COVID)
2) La Rosiere (purely as an alternative option)
Up until several weeks back we had requested a refund on the annual Saint Sorlin trip as Easter is quite late this year and I am not convinced about snow quality, but it's really cheap holiday... So we started looking at alternatives and a catered chalet in La Rosiere has come up, which is somewhere I've looked at for years but never been.
The question I have is assuming it's not gonna dump it down in the lead up to Easter, which is likely to have better conditions? The prices for the 2 trips are chalk and cheese as the La Ros place is circa £1k pp and the Saint Sorlin is £1k for the S/C room (both include travel)...
I am wondering if it is even worth going at this time of year, but the lack of anything snow over the last 18 months is making me want to maybe try and squeeze a second trip in at Easter.
Anyone got any experiences of LA Ros this late in the season...? Are the slopes mainly south facing? I've also always being slightly concerned as it's not the biggest area to ski...?
Thx folks

La Ros normally has skiable snow at the end of May so mid April will be no problem but anywhere south facing below 2000m and north facing below 1500m will be getting ropey / man made. You need a range of slope aspect and to follow the sun/shade.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I’ve skied La Ros late Easter week. For sure, a bit slushy by the end of the day but overall the conditions were pretty good. The snowfall midweek helped, but the coverage (and over to La Thuile) was generally pretty good.

April skiing is a matter of:
a) following the sun;
b) getting up early and do most of your skiing early; and
c) make the most of the the afternoon apres and a late long lunch!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I would go to La Rosiere as it is higher altitude and you would have some north facing slopes on the La Thuile side.
However I would book self catered rather than catered for next season. There are plenty of high end self catering options to choose from in the Les Eucharts area of La Rosiere.

Thx folks... Appreciate what Easter skiing is like for slushy afternoons etc. Just wanted to understand if anyone had been to La Ros that late in the season for average conditions and direction of slope etc.
Thx again all

I have skied La Rossiere in mid April and even managed to get down to La Thuile, which was an intersesting ski down part of the petit st Bernard road avoiding the tarmac. It was, as you'd expect, firm in the morning, very heavy in the afternoon, but plenty of snow. It was just too hot to continue after about 16:00.

@AlpineAddict, as long as it’s an average snow year both areas will manage their slopes to the maximum I can’t speak for the Maurianne valley resorts but I look at La Ros and ski it once or twice most April’s over the last 15 years . I only go there on sunny days spend the first hour or so skiing La Ros on boiler plate to softening moving to La Thuile post 10.30/ 11pm for a lunchtime ski , go for a slightly late lunch at the copperpan then back for a few late runs on the high runs on the border before a late run back into La Ros on soft/slush for a beer in the sun . Simples
