Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which new ski ?

Yay - another what ski thread Toofy Grin
Bit of background. Current skis are Salmon QST92 and were bought on the basis I tend to ski in January and sometimes have a second trip in march. I opted for wider skis as in January we typically have 4 days of heavy snowfall and 2 sunny days. The march trip can be the same or days of sunshine with a variety of hard packed piste to slush and ice fests.
I do not ski off piste or even side piste.
I've spent the last couple of years getting lessons at my local dry slope and (according to others on holiday) have improved my technique quite a bit but must admit I still struggle with bumps and poor vis.
My current skis are no good on hard packed piste and I think I need to revert back to a piste ski and have heard good things about the head supershape. For context I am 184cm tall and weigh 87kg. Tend to ski shortish radius turns and would ideally like something that does not weigh a tonne to carry about.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some skis to try out once my local fridge in Glasgow opens again?
Thanks in advance

Head SuperShape Magnum (or indeed any of them); or Dynastar SpeedZone 12, should be at the top of your list.

You could also look at Nordica Dobermann Spitfire Ti and Rossignol React R8 Ti

One small proviso about head skis - I had the pre graphene i-titan, and while I loved the performance, they weighed an absolute ton for a relatively "small" ski. My current salomon xdr84s are way lighter.

Do Ellis Brigham provide ski test facilities for the Glasgow fridge?

They seem to have a reasonable range (cursory look) including Head Supershape e-Magnum and Atomic Redster X9 (which seem very popular over here). I have the Titanium G9s in 177, 18.4m radius (I’m 176 and 83kg)...proper turny piste ski Madeye-Smiley

@boabski,
I made a similar decision to go back and have a dedicated piste ski as well a couple of years ago. I also ski in January and March, 182cm and 95kg. After a lot of reading and YouTube reviews and then trying them, settled on the Rossignol Hero Elite Plus TI and couldn't have been happier. I decided on the 167cm which has a turn radius of 13m, which is short for my weight/height according to a lot of advice, but I wanted a ski which would naturally favour short radius turns.

The key is going to be working out what you really want from your on piste experience, short or long turns, unforgiving or playful etc, etc.

Also worth checking out Volkl Deacon 74 - longer turn radius for the length, Blizzard Firebird TI, Atomic Redster X9 and the Nordica Doberman Spitfire.

@Cacciatore, yeah. Bought some K2's from them years ago. @Timc, cheers. Will look into and I think a shorter radius may suit my style better. Current ones are 19m from memory
