Unbelievable riding by the top 60 U18 riders from around the world in Verbier this morning.
Local hot shot Martin Bender pipped to the men’s ski prize by Max Palm, a Swede based in Les Arcs. His girlfriend Astrid Cheylus took the ladies title.

@BobinCH, Max is son of Stefan and Pia Palm, who lived just along the road from us here in Serre in Villard Late (bottom of the Granon road), so La Grave was where he'd ski when it was too tame here, as Stefan had been a guide there for as long as Per and worked for Pelle at the Skiers Lodge.
They moved to Chamonix about six years ago.
Per As is his Godfather and Per told us a good couple of years ago that Max would make it.
Pia and Stefan have decamped to here http://abiskomountainlodge.se/skiing/heli-skiing/?lang=en

Kiwis, training in Whistler. Sounds expensive! Who pays for all their transport / accommodation costs for these events? Is it parents or sponsors / local ski associations etc?

A few years ago I was in the Jumbo after the FWT finale at Verbier.
There were three of the women athletes in the cabin and we got chatting...
"How did you guys get on today?" I asked
"Oh, it was good, in fact nobody ended up in hospital at all today, and nobody died, so today was a good day" one of them answered
That put it all in context!

Not sure anyone has died on the Xtreme! Certainly not from the ladies entry

Ski world Max Palm is taking over!
It was written in the stars since day 1 - and you got this far already!
Huge congrats - so worthy of the junior world champion title and what a run - amazing skiing!

Friend's son competed in the U16. Didn't quite stick his landing on last jump but got up and side-stepped (chuckle) / skied out. They seem to be made of rubber.

Being critical, big backslap on the first 360 and Martin (in 2nd) did a much bigger and more original transfer air in the lower section. Hope they post his video up too
