Poster: A snowHead

Possibly posted on here already but FWIW my check in at LHR (on 27 Jul) was total chaos. Took 45-60 mins to get to the check in desk, but after that smooth as silk. Paperwork only checked by the airline staff. GVA was very smooth. Again paperwork (apart from passport) only seen by check in staff

Excellent; gaining a little confidence about Austria and Swiss trips this winter (despite BA cancelling our Innsbruck flight!)

@rob@rar, so what about France then? |
Remains at Amber. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a clear explanation of how the government reaches these decisions…?

You'll need to Register first of course.

@rob@rar,cheese eating garlic surrender monkeys?
No, wait, that implies a degree of conscious decision making.

@rob@rar, which is baffling because we’re apparently 4 weeks off saturation point for hospital covid admissions.

Amber List is the same rules as the green list for vaccinated people.
Test before you arrive in the UK, test on Day after arrival.
Only affects the minority… through choice.

If you are getting an antigen Test to Return in Switzerland, this is free with your EHIC/GHIC.
We got our tests done today at the Pharmacie International in Verbier and it was easy and quick. We booked in advance, but at the moment, I'd say you could walk in and probably not have to wait more than 30-40 minutes even if it was busy. They confirmed the result was negative in about 15 minutes and emailed the Certificate with the embedded QR code. I just uploaded it to the Eurotunnel booking and it was checked as OK.
Without the GHIC it would have cost CHF 47. You actually don't need the card as such, just the information on it. So not a bad idea to take a photo of it, just as a backup.
We're now at eight separate covid-related documents needed for the two of us to drive from Switzerland back home via Eurotunnel.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I got a free LFT test in Switzerland recently to return to the UK. The test centre were very unsure what to do re charging.

@Alastair Pink You're correct - there is no longer a reciprocal arrangement for healthcare between the UK and Switzerland. Previously, there was a 'flowdown' from the EU27 to the +4 but our 'world-beating' post-Brexit trade negotiators managed to miss out on renewing this. All I can report is what happened in Verbier. But for all I know, the test charge waiver is a Cantonal thing.
And for information, the booking system for pharmacy appointments was centralised: the information sheet from the Tourist Office just quoted one website - we each had to set up an account and then choose a pharmacy; the booking slots were presented; and we just selected the date/time. It wasn't a specifically Covid-related system: it looked like it could be used for other appointments like 'flu jab renewal etc. Some pharmacies booked further into the future than others. When we got to the pharmacy, we had to give them the same information again, implying there's not a link between the booking system and the individual pharmacy systems. Which is no big deal, but a bit puzzling when the staff start asking for details that you've already recorded in the booking.
I did think that during all the stress of having the test done, many Brits might think that the request "Avez vous votre assurance?" would imply the commercial travel insurance, which isn't what they want. It's only because of a previous hospital visit that we knew that they meant the EHIC/GHIC. It doesn't have to be the physical card - the information on it is all they're after, so not a bad idea to take a photo' in case you don't have the card with you.
