Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@rambotion, You got it near enough: Back of Cairngorm - Diagonal Gully, down to Loch Avon (or A'an). (or is Coire Domhain another name for the same gully? I'm really showing I'm from down South here!)

Here is my photo of it from the last day of the season (rather narrower when less snow!). You can ski to it from the top of Cairngorm but afterwards you have to walk along the Loch and climb back up the less steep Coire Raibert, which might make a nice descent itself (see https://www.fall-line.co.uk/backcountry-skiing-in-the-uk/coire-raibert-andy-t/ : another end of season shot).

Your go.

The route is something like this - I can’t remember exactly as did it several years ago. The first picture was actually a red herring as was a second lap accessing the same exit but from directly under the Klein Matterhorn lift. It was on 1st May during a big snow year - you need enough snow in the exit to Furi to avoid falling in the fast flowing glacial river underneath!

@BobinCH, good stuff. Guess the red herring first photo is of the Triftjigletscher which is also good fun.

That’s the one! There’s some fun to be had off the Klein Matterhorn. I believe with touring gear there are some nice routes to Monte Rosa and back up via Punta Indren. Would love to explore that area more if we ever get back to normal!

@BobinCH, yep lots of great stuff up there, would love to back sometime (actually, I’d love to ski somewhere other than Edinburgh’s local hills sometime!)

I’m struggling to get photo uploaded - have forgotten how to without super:sH: privileges - so if someone else wants to go please feel free

This is what Powder mag refered to as "Left turn out the door". It's the upper part of the Voie Mallory/Eugster Diagonal.

I am starting to wonder at what age one should start to thin out the bucket list to suit the number of years of skiing remaining. Or is realism foreign to the idea of buckets?

Oooh, can I play?

Let's start with one that should be rather obvious. The couloir is in the background. I skied this with snowball and others about 10 years ago, but the photo is taken in another year.

Hi horizon, very nice dramatic photo.
Of course I know this very well, but I'll leave it to see who else knows it. A fair number will have seen it but not many skied it.
I might put in horizon's colour photo of when we both skied it (which is slightly more recognisable), if nobody gets it.
It isn't particularly narrow, by the way - just the cliffs rather big.

As for the jackskier one, I can't quite place it. Zinal is feasible but I have never approached it from this angle if so.

Suspect this is the trip that I had to turn down because of other commitments. Everytime I see these pics I want to hit myself on the head with a frying pan.

Is it Canale Holzer?
