Correct! The giveaway (if you know the area) is that on the far left you can see the Dents du Midi.
Taken from Cabane de Balavaux, Nendaz. Ski down Plan de Fou then take the Prarion chairlift through the oldest larch forest in Europe (you pass the restaurant about two thirds of the way up the chairlift). A late season suntrap at lunchtime.

I was lucky enough to ski guide that part of the world '99-'00.

Very nice! I spent a lot of time in the 80's in the area (including lots of 4 day weekend trips driving out after work on Thursday and back home on Monday night to conserve holidays and maximise skiing).

Hmmm, not Hanazono, not Niseko or not from Kutchan? Or not all of the above!!!
Or is it the totally opposite end of Niseko. - Moiwa?

Rusutsu, based upon its closer to Sapporo than Niseko area, and therefore ideal for weekend/short trips if you work in or near Sapporo.

You have it, Moiwa is further away from Iwanai than Hanazono, hence colder.
Went there to meet the Cat ski crew (when the toen ran it, nit the current operator). Got offered a run with the head guide, but no gear, so ended up in 80/90's rental boots, Salomon BBR's and JEANS
Did one run, all in the trees, non stop in ankle to mid thigh pow......Great fun but tough when you have verry little control over your equipment (30 degreees of slop in the boots) and you are trying to keep up (10m seperation or less) with somone who's skied this hill for 30 years.
