Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lift served skiing I have written off this season, was lucky enough to get bit of downhill skiing this weekend on my local hills, I really hope I can get a few days up north but I just can't see it the way things are currently.

So far no further positive results from today's mass testing in Flachau, so it seems the outbreak has been confined to the group of trainee ski instructors. All ski instructor training in Land Salzburg has now been cancelled this season as a result of this.

Salzburg 24 reporting only 400 people turned up to be tested out of c2500 inhabitants with 3 hours to go so perhaps too soon to say it has been confined. Let's hope so. I'd still love to know where they are staying

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@holidayloverxx, I think they were in the Jugendhotel in Reitdorf. But not confirmed.

It seems they are booked to a 10 week snowboard instruction course in Verbier. Looks like they were doing their 10 days quarantine over the border in Vallorcine but 16 of the group tested positive.

Not just another nail in the coffin for Brits ski season. More like a JCB load of earth on top of the long sunk grave.

Organised by BASI!!!

I thought it was a BASI course, organised by Peak Leaders

@iainm, yes.
I think it’s disgraceful that they seemed to be gaming the system. They were an hour from Verbier, so must have stopped to facilitate their entry into Switzerland, its a soft border there seldom manned.
I suspect it will be another nail in BASIs coffin in France. I know Valorcine well, a quiet little village of maybe 400 people, and a lot of older people. They had managed to keep Covid out until this. The local Marie and the Marie of Chamonix will be furious, especially given the super tight restrictions they have been enduring to keep safe.

I think the idea was to have a shorter quarantine in France, then go to Switzerland (saving 3 days in quarantine)
