Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I don't really understand the problem - if you don't loop it in it hangs between your legs in a pretty visible and silly fashion - surely no one can tolerate that look Very Happy

Some people either don't know it's important/don't think it's important, so have it tucked out the way or removed. For whatever reason mine didn't have one (got it second hand) so I just used got a carabiner, added some cord and made one myself.

That's pretty mental isn't it?

I've bought this inconvenient, slightly odd, heavy and expensive system because it might save my life.
They've designed this strap that goes between my legs.
Can't think why they would have done that.
Can't do anything useful
Probably just for.... I don't know
Think I'll not bother with it

Truthfully, not often. Thanks Ken the crab is a good tip. My biggest fear it getting something caught on the lift.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The reason is a very good one - it can stop you being strangled by your own backpack in an avalanche. There have been cases where avalanche victims have had their backpack forced very high up their back from the 'washing machine' effect of the avalanche and been asphyxiated by the chest strap. So not just a piece of spurious design.

About as difficult as working out what a strap on an avalanche safety bag could possibly be for.

Maybe it's like wearing masks in a time of Covid-19: what could those possibly be for? Bleach drinking, however...
