Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Yeah, I know, just learn how to find them the old fashioned way, or use ribbons, or whatever.

But.... I've been given a set for Christmas, so I might as well stick them on. The instructions in the box say the screws aren't necessary, the instructions on the website say they are. Has anyone used them with just the sticky pad and no screws? And have they then fallen off?

Thanks.

Nope, mine are screwed on but I do have one Resqski tip. It's quite easy to accidentally pop them out when they are switched to off, so don't ski with them turned off. I lost one transmitter that way (replacements are available fortunately...). My tip is when you fit the transmitter on the first morning of the trip turn them on and leave then on for the week... (Or if you really want to turn them off pop them out and put them in your pocket)

Used them with stickers only, worked perfectly.
When Jon was fitting shifts on the same ski and had to put them in a new place both Reqski were solidly in place and took some effort to be removed.

I have them attached to a couple of pairs of skis with the 3M sticky pads. Had them for a few years and I think the housings are still stuck to the skis very firmly.

Ok, I'll chance it without the screws.

Thanks guys.

@Tom Doc, You must use the screws. Resqski changed the sticky pads a couple of years ago as the original ones were that strong that they could cause damage to the unit of the ski when trying to remove them. Whilst the rubberised sticky pad does give good adhesion it's also there for so vibration dampening and to seal from water ingress so you must use the screws as well.

Best to mount between the bindings if you're sole length allows & if you're using a touring binding then check there's room in touring mode and with a crampon installed.

I've got Resqski on all my skis. The original 3M sticky pads haven't moved and held well, to the extent that they are a sod to remove if you need to. The more recent sticky pads (last couple of years) are fairly weak, and I've seen several fall off. I learnt this the hard way, losing a base and transmitter on the first day out with new skis Sad

I woud go with the screws or get some decent sticky stuff. I've used 3M VHB RP45 on the ones I've had to replace (new bindings etc), and it as been bullet proof. It should cost around £10-12 for a A4 sheet.
