Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiing to Tignes 1800

Looking at going to Tignes in early March - we have found some ski in/out accommodation at Tignes 1800. My question is how easy/hard are the blues coming down into Tignes 1800? We don't have any complete newbies, but some of our group only have a week skiing they were doing blues but am aware if the fact that ski runs can can vary considerably.

Relatively easy. From the top of the Chaudannes chair there is a wide run all the way to the top of the gondola from Boisses. Some of the pitches are darker blue but as they are wide shouldn't present any problems for an intermediate. From the top of the gondola home there is a long track called Melezes, very pretty but benign.

On the way out in the morning you may wish to use Petit Col to Tignes Le Lac for the first day. The other option Bluets (a red run confusingly!) Is a run for intermediates and above at the top.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Give the run home a shot or two at the start of the day. The sun is on it more and it will have been freshly prepared. At the end of the day that end of the resort is in the shade and by then the piste home is well worn and can be a bit polished. Only a potential nuisance on a short narrow section towards the end. If your week one skiers don't like it they have two other options: free bus every 30 mins from Le Lac or down-loading on the Boisses gondola.
