Seems I got over excited and although Latvia is in fact £9 for the year, it is refusing to take the payment- they may be authenticating based on the card issuing country

So just called up a friend who works in the field and he explained eurosport payment provider are probably using the cards first 9 numbers (BIN range) which identifies the licensing country of the card - so poopoo no VPN is going to bypass that.
We're pretty certain of this as have confirmed with my card issuer that they are not seeing the transaction coming through.
@russ_e, either way the £19.99 is a great deal so thanks for sharing!

do you have to have sky tv or can you get it via the net ?

You know it makes sense.

if anyone is interested, below is a link to a site, where you can buy a firestick it costs £180 (club+) for the first year, then £100 per year after that.
it is massive savings, compared to sky/BT/virgin
https://www.wizardtvsolutions.com/
I bought one at the start of the first lockdown, after being recommended it from a colleague. it works via wifi and plugs into a hdmi port on the tv.
it is fully transportable, so I take it with me everywhere I go, as I normally stay away for work, and just plug it into the back of the tv in the hotel/apartment I am staying in
it has every sport channel known to man (or woman), including all the channels showing the premier league 3pm kick off's and sky/bt/amazon box office, I watched the england rugby game the other day that wasn't on any other channel. it shows the pay per view boxing as well, but I have not bothered with that.
it has a catch up facility on most of the programmes, so you can just go through the tv schedule and play a film etc that you may have missed.
it also has all the sky movie channels, and all the various entertainment channels as well. there is also a video on demand utility where you can search and download the latest movies, and tv series (along with a back catalogue). I recently downloaded a few Apple tv programmes and films, including "greyhound" with tom hanks, and "the morning show" with Jennifer Aniston, that was brilliant.
personally, i would never bother with any of the main players anymore, just for the sport alone!!!
cheers
terry

@robs1, not only does it work via the internet but EurosportPlayer usually has some channels available that aren't on the TV. E.g when they're showing cycling and tennis on 1 & 2, they'll have a stream for something else. Think they may also do a commentary free version of the skiing, for those who don't like the commentator. Also as a motorsport fan I like that they have an ad free stream for the Le Mans 24h.

But you also need a VPN, and thats another £30 plus a year for a decent one, so £100 per year all in aint bad.
Even when I take the FS to other places, I always have the VPN connected.
