Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

They are offering up to 20% additional credit if we want to amend to another booking (maybe Easter...?)

Try a week later. Then if it gets cancelled another 20%? wash & repeat.

Is there a different calculation for R number , its always positive surely and 0.64 implies falling numbers fairly rapidly.

I meant the news on that is more positive than the current situ with the hospitals

I have to admit I also find it strange that it was announced they would let the ski resorts know within 10 days and then suddenly Macron said what he did The day after! Why not just put them all out of their misery now if that’s what is going to happen. Maybe that was his way of voicing his opinion. Also wonder how much influence Italy and Germany have...

The feeling I got from Macron’s chat last night was that he didn’t want to open before New Year but might have to depending on what happened in other European countries.

@Claude B, I'm sure you're seeing posts on FB extolling the virtues of how even without skiing spending your Christmas in a ski resort can still be full of wondrous things to do Puzzled

And that's without them even mentioning the fact that there's still no snow!

Macron could do a U-Turn (save face etc) and announce that resorts will open and they will have a reprieve, but how many people will actually book with the current lack of white stuff and no restos and bars open etc and that's before they even really put their thinking caps on and deduce that queues will be horrific if only chairs and drags are open?

Rob, who mentioned anything about a wicked EU? The headline reads 'Germany seeks EU deal to close ski resorts'. Seeing as Germany run things I believe my original statement to be correct.

In fairness it seems a sensible thing to do, what's the point of France being closed if Italy is open?

If Germany did in fact "run things", then there would be no need for a meeting with other EU states to agree a deal, or what that deal would involve.

So the main Alpine countries are having a discussion about whether it's a good idea to agree to delay opening the resorts? Will Sweden and Finland be involved? Croatia, Spain? Czech Republic, Greece?

One would hope so as they are in the EU Smile

You would imagine that a French business owner will be pretty upset if the rest of the EU is open but they are closed. Germany, France and Italy are behind the policy I'm not sure how much of a say the rest actually get.

I wonder if the SNP will follow suit in solidarity with our EU friends? If they don't the wind probably will!

Ski resorts: the ski lifts will remain closed at Christmas

If the ski resorts will be able to accommodate holidaymakers during the end-of-year holidays, the practice of alpine skiing on the slopes will not be authorized, however, confirmed the Prime Minister.

"We felt that the epidemic situation and that the situation of hospitals in the regions concerned, in particular in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, do not allow us to consider an opening for the Christmas holidays", a- he stressed, believing that "it would not be prudent to allow very large flows of populations to come together with activities likely to require hospital services".

Jean Castex said that the ski resorts would be easily accessible during the holidays. Only the ski lifts and public facilities will remain closed to the public

They have plenty of artificial snow ready to be spread around. Pretty sure they would have opened just fine if it wasn't for this nonsense.

How does this make any bloody sense? They will open the virus spread hotspots but not the actual skiing where everyone stays apart and wears ski masks?

I think it may be due to the extra burden on the hospitals through ski injuries.
