Yeah as @davidof says that Google link isn't permenant and routes to their viewer - you'll need a link to the proper .JPG image for it to work.
And IIRC Snowheads doesn't support iFrames so using the embed link won't work either....

If I start a petition that posting pics on snowHeads should be easier will it get debated in parliament? There can be fewer more important things in the world right now.

@Badgerpig, As someone said, you can't link to google images, but once in Google images go to the image itself (view image if using a PC) and then get the actual image address. It's easy enough.
Then post the image link into your post. That will just provide a link, but yo actually make the image appear in the post you need the [img] bits. Easiest way to do that is preview your post, highlight the link and the clock the [img] button.
One thing to watch out for, sometimes I do everything right but it doesn't seem to work. This usually turns out yo be an extra space at the end of the URL. Delet that and all is well.

@foxtrotzulu, yes, it's easy enough to do in Google Images, but what about Google Photos? I can't figure out how to get an actual permanent image address in Google Photos.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Gämsbock, ah, yes. Good point. I should have read the OP more carefully. I think the only answer is that you have to upload to snowmediazone. It's not a big hassle......usually.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

@foxtrotzulu, no worries, as long as I wasn't missing something obvious. I do occasionally upload photos here, but generally I find the phaff factor overrides my desire to share! Though that may be a good thing
You know it makes sense.

heres how i do it, first you need to put your pic on a photo sharing site, i use photobucket.....then
1..write your message
2..click preview, then you should see the image options
3..find your pic on photobucket, and on the right hand side copy and paste the img option
4..back on snowheads preview where your message is click img then copy and paste your image but you must put .jpg at the end and then click image again, so the whole thing should look something like this [img].................jpg[img]

@Gämsbock, I think much of it depends upon the device you are using.
IPhone - almost impossible
iPad - hard work
PC - very easy.
Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Postinng the photo is easy. Getting it the right wsy round and on the left hand side or in the middle is impossible. Mine always go to the right hand side and look stupid
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@foxtrotzulu, I've got a surface and an android phone. For comparison, I consider the Facebook interface to be very easy - take photo on phone, open Facebook App, click photo, optionally add text, location and people, share, done - literally seconds, can be done whilst sitting on chairlift.
Uploading to Snowheads: take photo (on phone), go home, log into PC, download photo from Google Photos to PC, upload via supersnowhead button but can't rotate it, can't add more than one photo to the same post, can't embed in text. Alternatively log into snowmediazone, upload to there, forget you have to click upload twice, do it again, get permanent link, add via img tag to post as I like. Takes me at least 5 minutes, and requires me to have my PC on me. As said, I do occasionally do it, but generally can't be bothered... if it's harder than that on Apple devices, I think I would never do it.
I got briefly excited at the prospect of being able to get a permanent link from Google Photos on my phone, so I could at least do all on one device on the move.
Also finding it difficult to upload photo. Used the photo specific squarespace URL link however photo not showing up. Is there a snowheads how to page ? Thank you
I've given up trying... The ability to just copy and paste pics would be really good, or an upload pictures button.... tho realise that may be beyond the site capabilities..?

I used to think it was difficult to upload photos from my phone until a helpful post from admin showed me that the “Post Image” button had access to the Photo Library on my phone, so it could directly upload any photo I had taken. It works in a similar way to Facebook in that sense.

I have a “Post Image” button right next to the “Submit” button - is this feature limited to Megasnowhead subscribers?

Yes. Sadly, that's not available to mere mortals like me.
I've repeatedly tried to download pics of my Colorado road trip, via apps like Imgur, and succeeded only in posting text links - not actual images. It's very frustrating, as I've had a few requests (in my trip report thread) to add photos .
If a kind Snowhead could spare the time to post an idiots guide (for posting via an android phone - as our laptop is old and knackered..) it would be much appreciated.

@Bergmeister, Imgur is an easy one. Upload your image to Imgur as normal. Select the one you want to post in your library – you should see a panel with your image and a load of links down the side. Copy the link named BBCode, and paste that into your post. If it is the wrong size, you may need to adjust the dimensions of the image you upload to Imgur.

On the iOS app you just tap the photo, copy the link and paste it into a SH message between the img tags

One issue with the Snowheads platform is that it displays linked images at 1:1 in terms of pixels, rather than scale them down relative to the size of the window. This puts the onus on the poster to edit larger images down to a roughly 'reasonable' size. This is about 500 pixels wide for a landscape. Anyone with a modern digital camera will have original raw images about 5-10x that if displayed 1:1, even when saved as a JPEG (which throws away about half the image data).
If you are an Adobe Creative Cloud/Photoshop subscriber, it's usually easier to edit your photos using that, rather than Imgur's editor which is relatively clunky (Image >Image Size >Width=500 File>SaveAs and then 'Save as Type'=JPEG if it's in the original raw form). If you think they're good photos, you might want to edit the metadata (File>File_Info) and enter your copyright etc. information, so that if it turns up being used somewhere else you can claim ownership.
I find it slightly faster to open a file for editing by using Windows File_Explorer to pick a file and then mouse right-click Open >Open_With >Adobe_Photoshop
If you use Imgur, just make sure that your access settings only allow linking to the specific image, as opposed to being able to look at adjacent images in the same folder.
It sounds like a lot of faff but once you get it sorted, it doesn't take long to re-scale, upload and grab the BBCode link for your picture. Almost invariably, most photos benefit from a bit of cropping (Image>Crop) anyway.

@Scarlet, I've tried all that a few weeks ago, the image popped up on SH and then disappeared......ah well.

@BobinCH, not sure it's that great... You'd be better sorting your photo out the the right size/shape first.

It's very simple via Flickr. Upload your photo, then copy and paste the bbcode straight into your snow heads post (you can also choose dimensions). Here's how:
