@queenie pretty please, some truth there - though I don’t feel it’s quite predictable like watching F1 and seeing Hamilton again win
Women’s SG is confirmed for 0950 tomorrow am assuming weather doesn’t deteriorate

Looks like Kristoffersen is back on form, 6th best time in the second run with the worst conditions.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Didn't watch the women's SG this morning so didn't pick up until now that Sofia Goggia had a season ending crash yesterday ironically it happened while skiing back down the mountain after the cancelled SG. She has fractured her right knee.
@extremerob, I heard she had an accident and thats why, according to the commentators, the Italians were skiing a bit tentatively today. But they didn’t mention the details.
Stable small tibial plateau fracture. 45 days non weight bearing, no surgery. She'll be fine

@holidayloverxx, the link above (if accurate) says things are a bit more complicated than your summary. I agree she'll be fine, but this isn't a scratch. Its more like 3-6 months. Mainly bummed for her, she appeared in fine form for the coming Worlds on home snow.

Italy24news and reuters say:
"The diagnosis after CT scan and magnetic resonance at the La Madonnina clinic in Milan speaks of a compound fracture of the tibial plateau of the right knee. No surgery but physiotherapy and rest for 45 days."

I was trying to find some details on the accident itself - was it a freak accident, slipped on an icy step walking back to a gondola to download, or were they bombing it down the race course, or just super unlucky and caught an edge and had bad luck.
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

@extremerob, reports said she was skiing down the public piste to get back to the hotel.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@holidayloverxx, real poo-poo way for her to end the season - though it looks like she may have done enough to secure the DH globe
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

@extremerob, absolutely. Hope she can hold on for the globe but corinne suter will be after it
You know it makes sense.

Great read on skiracing.com about Cortina d’Ampezzo’s Olympia delle Tofane and new Vertigine racecourses as preparations are underway for the World Ski Championships
@extremerob, thanks! Too busy falling asleep watching the cricket and had forgotten.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It may be a bit premature to call but looks like Beat's mistake on the last gate may have cost him the win to Dominik - though I wonder without the mistake if Beat would really have done enough
Might be all over bar the shouting, no-one from the higher bibs are getting near the leader.

It's been a funny downhill season, mainly either all over by racer 10 (or less) with a couple of late number surprises. Do they need to look at the Bib draw again. I think races were more enjoyable viewing when the big guns came from bibs 15-22?
Don't like the sound of Kvitfjell being off because of Covid. Would be a shame to have a shortened season again. Wording used in todays commentary suggests its the Norwegian government that are the problem.

It would be absolutely great is ski sunday actually did some interesting features such as how FIS are implementing COVID restrictions, how teams logistcs are affected - or how are they travelling between resorts and training camps - sort of behind the scenes rather than showing us a bit highlights from Eurosport.
I also wonder if FIS have a view on Kvitfjell and Are - everything else on the WC circuit is driveable- and flying could increase the risk.

Think you are more likely to get that from the individual racers' social media feeds, they won't want camera crews around.

Some people flew back from Zagreb to get ready for Adelboden.

quite possibly that is one way to do it - I don't follow every skier, team and race hill though so the info is a bit hit and miss in my feed- especially behind the scenes stuff. Just feel the BBC should do some actual reporting rather than claiming having Chemmy and Ed standing on a hill and getting to ski as "essential workers" and providing some form of service.
Cortina World Ski Championships opening ceremony is showing on the Eurosport Player App (not on eurosport 1 or 2) - it appears it is pissing down with rain in Cortina!
There will be coverage on Eurosport as well the local websites listed in the first post of the thread

BTW, for those unaware, in another sporting sphere - Liverpool 1 Man City 4. DR, sorry, just concentrate on Cortina!

BBC's live coverage with UK (GMT) times, but I dont think BBC are showing everything (live or otherwise), for example its not showing the alpine combined scheduled for today
A pity today's racing was cancelled, but it's better to have snow than yesterday evening's rain at the opening ceremony. Hopefully we'll see some great racing over the next few days.

Yes, pity. Will have to do some work instead. At least there is the cricket.
The Men's Super-G scheduled for tomorrow has been moved to Thursday to allow more time to prepare the course. Assume the pisteurs efforts have been focused on the women's section which is why their Super-G on the tofane is going ahead tomorrow - Bib draw is taking place now.
The Women's AC that was cancelled today may take place next Monday 15th which is the reserve day - yet to be confirmed.
