Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The Kitzsteinhorn opens on Saturday, 3rd October, with skiing to the Alpincenter and uplift via the Gletscherjets.

The last I heard about this was that if they transport you, they are legally responsible for your safety - and as the pistes aren't 'secured', obstacles aren't deeply buried, etc, they are not prepared to accept that responsibility (and aren't insured to do so).
However anyone is allowed to hike up with skis or toboggans etc as they wish, as then the lift co have no responsibility.
Two people even skied Karrine at Nordkette last weekend, which is a pretty bloody impressive uphill schlepp (circa 1400m vert but STEEP)!

20 days is pretty good what's breakeven on the pass 14 days or so? You might not get the ordinary value you were hoping for out of it but you will still get a lot of value relative to us punters.
(and for that matter did we ever get to teh bottom of how they confirm residency for online sales?)

@Dave of the Marmottes, not sure, but I think most day passes are at least 35€, and some are more like 55€. That 20 days includes all the cheaper stuff in summer though, like single lift rides, swimming pools (about 6€) etc. so if you don't get good value in winter, you'd have to calculate whether it's better to use it much in summer and go over 20 days, or claim the rebate.
My annoyance is partly due to planning to go out today with someone, which would've involved a lift ride. She had to cancel, but if we go tomorrow I either have to acquire a ticket in town beforehand (might be tricky) or walk up.

@Scarlet, are you sure you have to buy form the same place to get the discount? I get a letter in the post from them, and I'm sure it had some sort of voucher or code (can't remember where I put it now haha); my assumption was just show that any of the sales points and all good?

We get a small discount on season passes for Ski Amadé or Salzburg Supercard this season as a 'compensation' for the lost month last season. Very unexpected as refunds for season passes are normally discontinued after February. They assume by this point you have already had your money's worth. New season passes are valid from Friday when the Mölltaler glacier opens, then Saturday when the Kitzsteinhorn glacier opens.

My logic says - what's the worst you could be out? Not much assuming you don't try amateur facial reconstructive surgery early this season.

I got a letter too. In the blue box near the bottom, it says use the same outlet as last year and take your pass or receipt with you to get the generous discount. It looks like you might be able to do it online though, if you can wait for the post (assuming you can't just top it up).

Yeah, I may have not got great value last winter, though I've used it a fair bit this summer. Nothing amateur about the surgery either, she did a damn good job and even I can barely see the evidence (though I do get your joke )
We get about 24€ back against last year (or 42€ against the new inflated price). If the lifts close for 6 weeks like last year (ish – can't remember exactly, but they obviously went directly into summer ops), then the rebate *should* be 55€ if I've understood correctly. Honestly, I that's unlikely. 2 weeks would be 18€.
