Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transceivers

Poster: A snowHead
Hey, this has probably been asked before but I couldn't find a search button. I am looking to buy a transceiver kit and have tried a few different ones out but just wondered if you have preference on a certain one? I.e. The easiest to use (if required)..

Probably just being indecisive and I know that they all do the same job in the event of needing to use one, but just interested to see what people like.. Mammut Barryvox / Pieps / Ortovox etc ?

Thanks

The BCA Tracker DTS gets good reviews for ease of use by people new to transceivers. Some good info here http://pistehors.com/comments/553_0_1_0_C4/

ejoy,

Davidof was just saying at the EOSB that follow SZK's advice and wait until next years models are announced.
as there are a few revelations.

Also, think about ease of use against maximum gadgets, like multiple search etc.

Try and find a course on how to use one and then you might have a better idea of what features you want/need

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Any news on what new models there might be for next season? I think its time that I invested in some avalanche kit, so I'm interested in what choices I'll have next season.

Hi Rob,

The link you posted has the new models. However I spoke with my local Orto rep and he thought the S1 would not be ready for the start of the season (some people say it will never be ready). SZK liked the new Barryvox Pulse and this seems to be the pick of the new beacons. It was easy to use to me but I didn't get too much time to play with it. Otherwise if you want simple and reliable the Ortovox F1 Focus can be had for a little over 100 quid from some shops and is still liked by many guides.

After all it is free Go on u know u want to!

Thanks David - any idea of the price for the Pulse? Any can you recall how it compares in size to the Tracker DTS?
