More stuff bought..... then I found the Planks Sale........ All the gear no idea will be our theme next year. Hopefully more than a 3 hour holiday..... Treated a poor patient today who arrived in Tignes on lockdown eve, and was bussed back next day, at least we got our 3 hours before driving back!

Anyone got the Bec de Rosses jacket. Size guide looks weird, says medium is a 38” chest and large is 41”, whereas medium trousers are 34” waist. The chest size seems a size out?

@BobinCH, I went for the medium. 98cm is the same as a Haglofs medium, which fits me ok. Or it did until I ate and drank my way through lockdown.

@BobinCH, I'm assuming that Swedish clothing companies all base their sizing off the same guy. Could be totally wrong here. Cheers for the tip BTW.

@BobinCH. Thanks for that. I think I managed to snaffle one of the last Bec des Rosses jackets. Some confusion on the ordering process but it seems sorted now. It sounds a great jacket and that was a bargain price so I just hope it fits!

@BobinCH, I've got a couple of pairs of casuals shorts from them and have to say I really like them.
A friend got a waterproof jacket from them, a midrange one for @€300 or so. It wasn't waterproof after 2 years and the main zip started to come away. He contacted them with a view to getting a repair or possibly warrantee cover, and they basically told him that you'd only expect two years out of a jacket and he'd be better off getting a new one, so he did - from another someone else.

I had a Zajo shell from sports pursuit. Wore it for a week in Flaine - the lining stripped away from where salopettes made contact. Sports Pursuits were very difficult in processing a refund, claimed misuse. Ditto, I had a pair of arctyx approach shoes that the soles fell off after a week. Conversely I've had other stuff (Spyder kit) that has been fine.

To be clear My friend went direct to the manufacturer Rab, and it was their aftercare that was so sadly lacking. Funnily enough I've sent a few things back to Sportpursuit over the years and found them to be generally very good. Therein lies the rub, I guess we all have different experiences with the same companies.

Without digging into this , I can't see any connection to prove this. It'd certainly be a deterrent for me ever buying anything from them again. Having said that, I've always found Rab stuff to be good quality.

Bec de Rosses jacket turned up. Medium fits well at 183cm and 85kg. Slightly long in the arms - my wingspan is almost exactly the same as my height. But I am nitpicking here.
Really nicely made and seems very durable. Flip side is that the kids think I look like a "giant mango" but I can live with that.

Ordered a medium Backside jacket, sizing waaaaaay off, more like XXL! My fingertips don't even stick out the sleeves, the hem is 5cm above my knees and the chest is around 20cm too large.......
Shame as it's a really nice jacket

Eeesh is the Backside designed baggier?
Good Icebreaker stuff on there at half price and less for anyone needing merino layers. I got a blue hooded 260 and it’s lovely to wear

But you can return stuff (although you do pay postage), so it's not the end of the world. I've had lots of stuff from them and I can't think of anything that went particularly wrong.

I had some snags with a returned jacket, SP took some convincing that the fault wasn't due to user error. Lots of to/fro-ing and email exchange. Ditto with a pair of faulty approach shoes.

I am not sure if it is the same return address but when I had a faulty product (so they would issue postage label), I realised the return address was very close to our Farnborough office which I was regularly visiting. I asked if I could drop it by hand (as easier to get to than queueing in a post office) and they were happy with that.

If you pay with PayPal, they will refund return postage costs up to a certain frequency/amount per year I think. I’ve used this once or twice (although not with SP).

Have used SP for plenty of stuff over the years, easy to return if you don't want it/doesn't fit etc.
Never had to return any faulty goods so I can't comment.

That's what I meant too, I've never had to return anything that was faulty either. I have called them on several occasions though, when I've wanted to change an order I'd just placed, or return something beyond the return date, or other order queries, and they've always been very helpful.
@NickyJ, they are definitely local to Farnborough, one of the guys who started it up came and had ski lessons with us at the slope in Guildford a few years ago.

One of the shirts i have had a seam issue but this can be fixed and I wouldnt return it. However that is now 3/4 purchases from SportPursuit that have had issues including a Haglofs culour pro jacket that has always wetted out due to bad DWR. I suspect the sell impefects or seconds or liquidation stock.
For me I'm happy with the two good tops and a shirt that is poor and for the value it is okay. But I wouldn't recommend them for a guaranteed hastle free purchase. I certainly wouldnt use them ofr any expensive hear based solely on my limited experience.

This.
I reckon I've spent around £3.5-4k on SP over the years. Some stuff I've done repeat multiple purchases - eg, merino base layers, or others where I've seen or used it from elsewhere. Some of the emerging brands are OK, but its hit & miss with other brands. The pricing is a bit of a joke - if you see it on FP for a massive discount there's a reason eg, samples, liquidation or end of line. You can probably find it elsewhere.

Just seen this Ken.
That's a shame but I found the same with an Elevenate Bec des Rosses. I was in-between M and L so went for L to be safe but it's huge.
Luckily they came round again a few days ago so I've now bought the M which I hope will be more viable for me.
So the L is getting returned unless any SH wants an L and can't find a cheap one.
Hope you're all keeping well over the hill there.
Cheers
Ed
