Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all

Not sure how well known this is or if it's been posted before but I've just discovered it ahead of our trip at the end of the month.

Groupon are offering quite a discount on ski hire with Skimium.
A £3 voucher gets you 40% off.
a £5 vouchers gets your 50% off.

There are some terms and conditions with dates when it can be used but it's saved us a good £400 for our group.

This discount does not apply in all skimium shops btw - you must check the list. For example there are no offers in St. Gervais.

Just curious how you got this to work?

When I check the Skimium site for Val Thorens, it shows already discounted prices (web vs store).

I bought the groupon, but when I apply it, it takes the discount off the full store price, not the web price, so it only saves about €10 instead of €50?

I've looked at, and used, quite a few of these over the years. Also used my French Decathlon card which supposedly gives a further "discount". And have emailed shops, etc.

I don't really believe any of this has ever saved me significant money.

The prices are inflated to allow for their huge discounts.

@flashish, that is how it works, it doesn't save you much unless you are booking for a group but it does always save you more than the cost of the voucher.
