Maroikopf to Langen is fabulous. One thing - I’m not great with heights and don’t like the waterfall particularly, anyone any recommendations for dropping down another way, presumably keeping right and keeping away from the cliff? Not via Kaltenberghütte but from Maroikopf.
Yup, @Markymark29, that tour created some fantastic memories. Even the climb up to Maroikopf was satisfying. Well, after we got to the top! I am with you on the waterfall/icefall. When I did it, there was a skinny, scoured track down the left hand side. Not wide enough for easy side-slipping and I certainly was not game enough to let the skis run.

When you get to the top of the MK skin, turn right just before reaching the summit plateau then you can ski down avoiding the waterfall, skiing under the Kaltenberg hut (so not doing the route via the KH itself)
I'm sure there are endless other options too... fabulous area: love the wall-of-death turns through the woods to Langen

I am hearing that the lifts will close early this season, with 11 April being mentioned as the most likely date. Hoping for much better things for 2021/22. Enjoy the summer meanwhile!

@ulmerhutte, yeah close date was was officially announced back on the 27th February when they reopened the lifts in St Anton. ..however they knew Der weiße Rausch scheduled for the 24th April was going to be cancelled which was announced on March 3rd ..
The Ski weeks after Easter Monday are tumbleweed dead anyway in a normal season ...
Should be around 20cms of fresh ankle dust by Thursday morning.....

Well, that is a wrap for the 2020/21 lifted ski season in StA. Our StA friends got some nice skiing in last week… and some snow shovelling. Not bad for mid-April.
Looking forward to being back in StA in 2022, and looking back on this season as an aberration.
