Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Damage to Conformable injection liner - should I accept a patch?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I had Conformable injection liners put into Technica Diablo Flames in January. I've since skied 22 days or so on them. On removing them at the weekend I noticed that on one liner, the fabric to the side of the tounge has split and that the rubber inseide has been damaged.

It's the sort of thing that a bit of duct tape could cover, but should I accept a patch or insist on a new liner. They were very expensive and I'm upset that they have started to show signs of wear so quckly. I'm taking them back tommorow.

Am I being unreasonable if I insist on a new liner?

Steve Sparks, Take them back. Consistancy is the bootfitters holy grail in terms of injection liners. They are hard to do right every time. If you are a chef and your soufflé sinks, you take it off the menu until you mastered it. Little Angel

We have 4 types of Injection liners on our menu. wink

Steve, I'm no expert on consumer legislation but I believe the two relevant questions are:

1. Were the liners of merchantable quality? Assuming you used the product with reasonable care, then a durability failure after 3 weeks' use suggests not.

2. Did the product have a warranty? What do Conformable say?

I'd expect the shop to want to repair, rather than replace, the product ... but Conformable might well approve them replacing it if they will underwrite the cost.

I think you've a right to demand a replacement (or high-quality repair to new standard), personally - any component of a ski boot should be durable.

SMALLZOOKEEPER, thanks for your response.

The Abominable snowHead, u did make me think to check the Conformable web site. It looks like there are replacement tounges available as spares. When I called them they said there was no one in the office with knowledge of the product Shocked

SMALLZOOKEEPER, do you know if the tounge alone can be swapped out? I think it would be reasonable for me to insist on that.

marc gledhill, you are right, my knowledge of Swiss consumer law isn't too great! But the outfit trade on quality and lifetime guarantees so I hope that may help.
