Poster: A snowHead

Hi,
I unfortunately had to cancel our reservation for Val Gardena this year due to the onward travel restrictions if I have been to Italy. I am looking to book 4 day holiday for 5-6 people next week (last minute) and am looking at good alternatives.
Absolutely love the Dolomites - so gutted - loved St Anton last year. Was looking into Kitzbuhel but the weather forecast does not look promising as its supposed to be warm and rainy (could this be in town?)
Have skied France but seems like all the ski resorts with good snow are too far away from Geneva. So Austria comes to mind.
- Mayrhofen
- Solden
- Kitzbuhel
- Ischgl
- Soll
We are experienced mostly on piste skiiers.
Thanks

Weathers difficult to call but I’d still choose one if the higher Tyrolean Resorts I.e
Mayrhofen (Hintertux Glacier nearby)
Solden (Glacier)
Ischgl (good snow cover)
We had our Selva holiday cancelled on Tuesday (gutted). We were offered Mayrhofen as an alternate and took it.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The best 4 day trip I did was staying in Megeve and we also did a day in Les Contamines (20 minutes from Megeve) and on the way home we skied the Le Grand Bornard as our flight was late. Only an hour from Geneva.
One of my favourite ever ski trips, touring about. We did in April and the snow was good especially in Les Contamines which is higher up. The slopes there were amazing and hope to go back at some point.
You also have Les Saises within driving distance as well. Megeve is a lovely town to base yourself and has enough skiing for 4 days but you have options about.

I'd recommend Ischgl. Easy to find/book hotels via the town's own website - https://www.ischgl.com/en - just make sure you get a hotel that's close enough to the gondolas. Some of the places that claim to be in Ischgl are really a bus ride away. About an hour from Innsbruck, 3 hours of easy driving from Munich which is how I usually do it coming from Edinburgh.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@pred02, there is another thread running with an almost identical premise https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=152018 . The folks there have gone for the Zillertal. The advantages are that most of the skiing is reasonably high (there are few runs down to the valley, mostly above the tree line) and it is easy to get to (ideal is fly to Innsbruck but an easy drive from Munich too), there is plenty of accommodation in the valley dont just restrict yourself to Mayrhofen. I would advise against Kitzbühel, Saalbach etc, I know folks will say that the snow is fine above the mid station, its only slushy at the bottom etc but better go somewhere where this is a non issue. Other places would be Serfaus / Fiss, Ischgl and the Arlberg. The Arlberg is good for a short trip if travelling via Zürich, the other two somewhat further from either Munich or Zürich but doable (again Innsbruck is perfect if you can find flights).

If my trip to VT gets cancelled I'll be heading for Scotland for a few days.

@pred02, +1 for Megeve.
Not too far from Geneva. Attractive town. Lots of cruisy pistes. Excellent scenery. Not cheap though.
