Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Gatwick airport special assistance - urgent question

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Special assistance booked for arrival at gatwick for our snowhead friend @skeksis after he bust his ACL. Travelling back alone landing in half an hour. Does anyone know if the special assistance bods will help him to the Uber collection point, or does it only go as far as the arrival hall? Wondering if I should book a normal taxi for him (and if he will have to hop all the way to it on crutches?)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Forgot to say I tried the airline phone helpline but it shut at 8pm and I can't find a number for Gatwick that will put me through to a human - if anyone can help on that front that would also be fab! Their website is not super helpful.

From the LGW Website....

''If you have asked your airline in advance to be assisted to your onward transport, whether this be to a car park, onward bus, train station or awaiting meet and greet then you may be asked to take a seat to wait for another special assistance staff member to provide this assistance.''

Hope this helps

My understanding is that they will take you outside to a designated (designated for airport assistance) taxi pick-up point. Don't know specifically about Uber pick-up place.

The special assistance people at Gatwick took my mum down to the drop off lane, so that my Dad could bring round the car from the long stay carpack. He then waited with Mum while Dad fetch the car. This was after coming back from SFaB 2 yrs ago.

@nabus, Hope it worked for your friend. In my experience (of quite a few airports though not of Gatwick) Special Assistance will take you to whatever point necessary for you to meet your onward travel arrangements, be it to taxi, train, coach or pick up point for a car collecting you.

Please let us know how it worked out.
