Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@pam w, Yes it's very similar to how sepsis causes problems, but in this case, the reaction was in the lungs rather that the blood. The victims' lung walls were destroyed by the immune system, causing them to slowly drown in their own blood, whilst coughing up the lung lining. Not a pleasant way to go.

I’ve nursed the odd patient in intensive care with lungs in a similar state; there was no recovery. (They were ventilated, therefore paralysed and sedated so not in any pain/discomfort.)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Not sure the hazmat suit is really suitable for self isolation more like a self inhalation....

Oh well the SIGB ski test in Pila scheduled for next week which we were coming back for is rapidly imploding with all the top brands pulling out as I type this Sad

Good it will be quiet then when we are there Very Happy Seriously it is a pain for them having put so much time organising it all but they have to weigh up the risks.

What a shame. Was looking forward to Pila having a bit more atmosphere about it next week. At least we might get to do the runs without too many nutters buzzing past far too close now then...........

I was looking forward to testing loads of skis. However, will be better if it is its quiet normal self. You can get used to no queues on the lifts.

@Jake43, The only times there are usually queues are on a Saturday when the hoardes descend from Turin, so status normal then. We stay at the Etoile de Neige & watching the herds come over the hill from the gondola down to Chamole is a sight to behold.

On a serious note, I do hope it’s not too badly affected. It’s a great place to hold the event, and those slopes are wide enough for us all Very Happy

I have seen some of the biggest queues this week in Monterosa I can only think the Milanese have opted not to return to their city homes

When was the ski test meant to be?

I have returned to the UK today from the Dolomites, via Innsbruck. Wouldn't know anywhere along the journey that there was anything unusual at all. No (overt) sign of testing, precautions, checks, notices or anything different at all. Lots of coughs on the transfer bus & plane... Puzzled Fingers crossed now.

@albob, Did you mean how did I like them? Very very very busy and crowded (far too much for my remaining post accident nervousness, and no good for my intermediot snowboarding level) and ridiculous queues just for basic run chairlifts (not even just on the SR). Disappointing wider area transport / ski bus links too, compared to some other places where I've been.
Other than that (and ignoring the vertigo from even looking at some of the Arabba blacks) it seemed a nice place for a fit, red run competent skier. I had been before in the summer, never winter. Not quite what I expected from the photos but maybe I'll go back and see some of the other areas another (and quieter!) time.

We've just returned from a week in La Villa. No panic over there regarding Coronavirus, no increased health precautions, no checks at Austria border or Innsbruck Airport. If we hadn't have read British news whilst we were there we would be none the wiser.
Yes, it was busy last week due to Italian school holidays/carnival week.
Higher than normal temperatures on 23 and 24 Feb, which meant spring snow conditions. Went a lot colder from Tuesday onwards and fresh snow brought excellent skiing conditions for the rest of the week. New snow expected this week too Happy
