Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm taking my girlfriend to Austria for 3 days in March. Looking for romantic, quaint picturesque stuff. possible three resorts over three days in ski Amade. We will have the car.
I'm ok on skis. GF skis the blues. Any recommendations?
A lake would be nice

One of the nicest resorts with lake in that area is Loser Altaussee.

However, it's part of Schneebaeren and not Ski Amade, so you would need additional passes.

Quaint and picturesque, but without lake, is Ramsau. (I had my honeymoon in Ramsau, although that was in October.)

There's a nice easy blue run through the forest on the Rittisberg, and a couple of reds for more of a challenge. It is limited in size though. Once you're there, you may as well also take the gondola up to the top of Dachstein glacier.

Häuser Kaibling has a good selection of decent blue runs, and is generally less crowded than the Planai next door.

Filzmoos has nice blues

Outside of skiing, a visit to Hallstatt and Bad Ischl will also tick the quaint and picturesque boxes. All very doable in a car.

@phillc, +1 to Hallstatt in the snow! But if you can get there early or later in pm as it’s on lots of tourist coach trips from Salzburg.

Another thought is this place on Hinterer Gosau.

The hotel does good food, but is nothing fancy, but the views are amazing.

@nozawaonsen, Wow! That Gasthof does look lovely. I just sent them an enquiry online and their automated reply says that they are closed December and January, then open February 1st to March 15th. So, if @cameronphillips2000 wants to book here, it would have to be in the first two weeks of March (I've just enquired about a Comfort Double with Balcony and Lake view for two nights on March 13th and 15th Toofy Grin ).

@phillc, very nice in summer too. Lots of activities on Gosausee, plus hiking and climbing. Terrace is lovely in evening looking out over lake towards glacier.

@cameronphillips2000, Plus 1 for Filzmoos. Easy skiing, very picturesque and pop down the hill to Schladming or Flacahau for more slopes.
