Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Schladming X Country trails

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm going to Schladming with the kids and gf for half term - the gf wants to ski cross country rather than join us skiing on the mountain. Having not been to Schladming before, I've been looking online and as far as I can see the X country trails will involve bussing it - maybe to Ramsau ? Is that correct?

We're staying in centre of Schladming, about 500m from Planai lift.

Any advice on cross country trails in the area gratefully received. TIA.

@Android2000, yes Ramsau is the best for cross country in the area. You need to buy a pass to use the Loipes up there, c. €30 per week. There are also free valley Loipes in Radstadt, Untertal, Mandling and Haus, all easily reached by bus.

@Android2000, if she's at least sort of serious about xc skiing, Ramsau is definitely way to go. There are normally some xc tracks down the valley too, but it depends on snow conditions etc., but Ramsau is definitely worth going for xc skiing, and it's pretty close from Schladming, so even that bus ride, shouldn't be issue.

@Android2000, try this page for more info and a trail map: https://www.schladming-dachstein.at/en/winter/cross-country-skiing

If you're not into xc yourself, there's probably enough on the Rittisberg at Ramsau to keep you amused for most of a day.
