Poster: A snowHead
|
arriving in Obertauern in 2 weeks, for our 4th visit, but the first for a few years. Has anyone any highlights? Looks like no new mountain restaurants, and Trip advisor has limited reviews placed by a mostly Austrian/German clientle. Good to hear of any recommendations. Thanks in anticipation.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We've been once years ago. Did you find the Almrauschhütte on Monte Flu? We liked that one. The Achenrainhütte is small and had a great atmosphere but we only managed to have a drink there. Apres; Der Turm, Latschenalm, Lürzeralm. The Tirolerkeller underneath the Hotel Schutz was good too. The Taverne was old school euro pop and good for late night pizza on way back to the hotel.

We're going again in a few weeks. Lurzeralm was our main 'point of call' last year for apres then down to the village. Have a 'Google' of Krings Alm. We had good food there and there's also apres at the same area later.

Be warned - Obertauern is not cheap. Much pricier that the nearby resorts

@Frosty the Snowman, it’s cheap compared to Zermatt! (Back off there in March).

@Frosty the Snowman,
We found it similar to Saalbach and Mayrhofen where we'd previously been for a good few years.

@HutToHut, we will eat there on at least the first night as we are in the Glöcknerin. A full 20 metre walk!

I live nearby but don't ski often in Obertauern for various reasons. As a result I've only eaten there once. I don't remember the name of the hut, my only recollection is that it was much more expensive than the Ski Amadé areas. Sorry I can't help much.
