Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

ESI ski school for snowboarding in Les Contamines

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Having taken to one plank over 2 last time out, one of the kids wants to do some snowboard lessons at half term. We are off to Les Contamines and as its not a particularly large resort options are more limited.

Found ESF but as I actually want him to enjoy the experience and not just end up with whichever instructor who lost that weekends drinking game, have been looking at ESI. Anyone used them for snowboarding lessons before? Or any recommendations on alternatives to look at?

I don't have any experience of ESI's snowboarding lessons but my kids had private ski lessons with ESI for a few years and we were pretty happy. The proprietor Phillipe also runs the board shop at Tasmania Sports (it's where the ESI "office" is too). He is a nice guy. The two ESI instructors I know (Phillipe and Christophe) are almost always on skis but I think they both teach snowboarding. I don't have a better recommendation for you.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's good to know, thanks @jedster,

We used Philippe at ESI for a few private ski lessons (may have been on Jedsters recommendation a few years ago!). Hes a good bloke and make sure you buy him a beer at lunch time and get to hear a few of his stories.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Oh well, have had to book with ESF as ESI aren't running an intermediate level course that week... *hopefully *ESF at LesCont will be better than the last time I encountered ESF snowboarding.
