Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The NW is getting a lot of storms but all of differing snow types along with wildly fluctuating temps. Trying to read the snowpack this winter must be a nightmare Confused

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The area had been bombed but nothing moved, crown was lower down but started above the skiers, and it was the first time this season it saw skiers,. Very sad day for the Silver Mtn community, and still looking for someone in the debris. Lost a ski buddy in the slide, he will be missed by all.

F**k. Having spent a week skiing ‘inbounds’, this brings home the reality that our hobbies are in the mountains. I lost count of the times locals asked me ‘why are you wearing a beeper’... our stock answer of ‘it makes finding your buddy in a tree well’ seemed to go down well... but still. You’re in the mountains. Minimise the risk!

I think that makes it 14 deaths from in bounds avalanches since 2008? Some of those were patrol doing avalanche control. With over 50million skier days in just USA resorts each year are unbelievably small. Sure wear your beeper if you want, but it's equivalent to taking a parachute on your flights to "minimise the risk".
