Poster: A snowHead

Hi all,
I've got my annual ski trip at the end of the month, even though we've been off every year for the past 6 or 7, my mum in having a melt down this year worrying about avalanches.
I promised her I'd look into a transceiver, but I know nothing about them! I have a recco reflector in my jacket, but not sure that's enough?
I'm not a ski club of britain member, so can't hire one from them. Anyone know a good UK company to hire before I go, or anywhere in resort I could hire? I probably won't be more than a few metres off piste, and always in a group.
I just need to stop my mum stressing, even though I'm mid forties but she still worries!!

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

The Recco reflector is well known as a device that helps to find bodies without having to wait for hikers to happen upon them after the Spring thaw.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Maybe a idea to buy one and learn how to work it?

Washout, I definitely need to know how to work it, you are correct. But budget is tight this year, so hiring is probably the only way i can do it.

There a guy in town selling the lot, transceiver, probe, shove for 80 euros all in. Names Pete Thomas and he advertised it on the Mayrhofen seasonaires Facebook page, might be worth a check out?
