Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello! My usual place where i get my skis serviced has shut down (carters) in reading. Where do people recommend that is close to reading? I want to avoid decathlon as bad experience there. I also have no confidence to try diy solo either! Thanks!

ski bartlett in Uxbridge is not too far away, if that helps

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

kind of tough around Reading. I now do mine myself. Other than that S&R in Chertsey is probably the closest place.

or. you could fire an inquiry to these guys. not sure how they do the logistics but Reading is probably doable.

@hannahlucy89, have you tried at the dry ski slope in Bracknell?
they may offer this, as I assume they need to service their own equipment, I know there used to be a small shop attached to it as well, but has been a few years since I visited the shop.

swindon ski to the east side of Swindon. Offer a while you wait service if arranged in advance. Nice pub and great dog walks in the area to keep yourself occupied.

Went and got a bunch of stuff from spyderjons shop and spent an enjoyable day putting on 4 coats of wax (been doing it in about 20 min batches And leaving it cool 90 mins in between. I find it quite therapeutic.

Snow and rock in Chertsey have screwed some friends skis up in the past but maybe they’re better now. I think you need to book them in though no while you wait.

In the last ten years I’ve always used Snow and Rock in Chertsey (I’m near you in Hook) with the exception of last year when I’d bought new skis.

I’ve personally found them to be good, and unless it’s changed in the last year and without trying to contradict Oitbc above, if you turn up on the spot and ask for whilst you wait service they will do it. Timings depend on how busy they are but the worst case I had was that I had to go and buy some lunch one Saturday whilst they were doing it. I do remember speaking with them on the phone one year about whilst you wait service and I think they try not to offer it as such in order to make it easier to control their work load. I may well be popping down there tomorrow for my skis to be serviced so will let you know!

I'm sure plenty of idiots including myself would be quick to tell you DIY is really not too difficult, if we managed it so can you. In fact you'd have to go some to do any damage (think leave hot iron on skis and walk away). I understand the first time is a little intimidating, but once your over that it's great being able to do them at home and not have to worry about it.
