Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What supermarket / hypermarkets do people use when driving up to the Dolomites, our final destination is Predazzo / Moena. Want to avoid expensive smaller shops in the resorts. Thanks

Predazzo, Moena, Cavalese etc. are all proper valley towns and have decent, large supermarkets - Predazzo in particular if I recall correctly.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

All the larger towns in Val di Fassa have sizeable local populations, so the supermarkets don't seem to have silly resort pricing like some places.
There is a largeish Co-op at the southern end of Moena, but I've used the smaller Conad stores and not felt ripped off.
Nevertheless, at Affi, just off the A22 NW of Verona near the bottom of Lake Garda, there is a big out of town shopping centre with a huge IperOrvea Hypermarket at its core. I've done a big shop there before heading up to resort, probably a few cents cheaper on most things, so you could make a saving....but more choice, so you might end up spending more!!
Good place to grab some quick food too, a cheap Pizzeria in the Hypermarket and a McDs nearby.
If you favour the German discounters, there are Lidl stores at Rovereto and Trento, within a mile of the motorway

NB. My advice is assuming you were approaching from the South.
If so, make sure you stay on A22 as far as Ora, then SS48 over to Cavalese, the SS612 is a tortuous drive.
