Have just gone to wax the family’s gloves ahead of Saturday’s departure to discover that there is only a smidgen left of Hestra’s protective wax in tin and none can be delivered ahead of time...what else might I use? Merry Christmas

I used G-Wax on my Kinco mits last year - seemed OK so will do so again. Just don’t let spyderjon know what I am doing with the kit he sells me

The family should really be using ear wax on their own gloves. That's where the saying comes from...
"Ear today, warm tomorrow"

I don’t know where you are heading but in Val d’Isere a few ski hire shops sell small sachets of Hestra wax at the till.

Tigski uses Mrs Tigskis handbag cream, but don't tell her!
I got leather balm from a specialist leather shop. 5 quid for a bottle that looks like its going to last 3 lifetimes.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I used nikwax aqueous wax on mine, liquid stuff that soaks in. Works well and doesn't preclude using other stuff later .

Good grief .... no spare pot! What kind of skier are you?
In fact, you could use furniture polish...seriously. We use the Hestra wax a lot, but in extremis use anything with silicon or beeswax in it ...

Just some of their spring gloves, my lad seems to have lost my 30 year old favourites so will be interested to try these.

Just topped up my hestra balm supply here in Norway as junior has managed to almost soak his gloves 'morning's in the snow on walk back to hotel. Still my hands are never sorted after waxing the gloves!
