Poster: A snowHead
|
Would be grateful for pointers. Myself and son are staying in st Jean d'aulps which has limited skiing. So are looking to head into the main ski area. But at half term fear it is busy and don't want to spend all the time in queues. Any suggestions of where to head for ?
Initial research suggests to steer clear of morzine and avoriaz. So was thinking of the Swiss side.
Many thanks

@Medi,
Welcome to SH.
Get the Ballad'Aulps bus from St Jean to Morzine tomorrow (10 minutes).
Take the Super Morzine gondola up and see for yourself.
New Year week is as busy as if not busier than 1/2 term so you'll get a good idea.
I was in Chatel, PLJ, PLaine Dranse, Lindarets, Avoriaz, Les Crosets, Champery and Planachaux yesterday.
There was a big-ass queue at the 8-Pax lift in Les Crosets, but it was only actually about 5 minutes queueing.
On the "How busy is your resort thread" I posted a pic of the Swiss Side from yesterday.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Medi, and you would get to the Swiss side by what means without going through France?
I don't think it's super crazy busy these days. Efficient lifts, etc.
I mean, avoid if you can, but if you can't, it's not the eotw.

@under a new name, Like you say, not super crazy busy now.
We used with the new Lechere and Cases lifts to go over.
They were carrying a fair few people, but there was no queue for either.
There was a small queue for Mossettes, but not like in days of yore.
@Medi Are you a greengrocer by any chance?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

No. Not a greengrocer I am afraid. Sounds more interesting though.
Many thanks for advice. Does not seem as horrendous as anticipated.
