Never been to Tignes area before but just booked last min staying in Boisses but we have some friends staying in Val Claret. It looks like a bit of pain to get from one to the other, what is best route or is there a convenient place in between we could meet for lunch?

@globalbagtag.com, Not at all, take the Boisses bubble, ski 200m to the Aiguille Rouge Chair, take the red piste Bluets or the blue piste Petit Col. Ski into Le Lac Cente, take the Toviere Gondola and ski down blue piste Henri into Val Claret, an intermediate skier could do it in 40 mins.

@globalbagtag.com, lots of places for lunch stops. Good value snack or simple hot food places in the different ‘villages’.
More expensive ski in/out slopeside self-service restaurants.
Higher end, with prices to match, table service restaurants both slopeside and in villages.
What sort of things are you looking for? Or a bit of all those at different times?
Also are you looking for places just in the Tignes sector? Or will your sliding take you all over the La Daille and Val D’Isere side, opening up lots of different places?
eg we’re currently in Tignes but had lunch yesterday at the furthest away point of the full area pass map, La Fornet.

I’m also wondering how you get back. From Le Lac it’s pretty clear but how do you get there. How do you return from Val D’Isere to Le Lac without downloading in the gondola or skiing a black? If there is a route how long does it take? Ta
|

To ski back to Boisses/Brev you either need to get Chaudannes up from Le Lac, or Aguille Percee up from the bowl between Le Lac and Val Claret. IF you're coming from the Val Diz side of the piste map it's a long way. Undoubtedly quicker to come down from the top of Toviere on Trolles/Julian Clary to Chaudannes, but that is a black run. Going from Toviere to Val Claret is a blue (Henri), but it's a long way via Tichot, Gratalau, Grand Huit and Aguille Percee to ski home. Never timed it, but probably close to an hour to get from the top of Toviere to where Chaudannes lands the long way around.
If you're not confident on black runs I'd seriously consider downloading on the Toviere Gondola. You can then pick up Chaudannes to ski home, or get the bus from Le Lac to 1800. Another option from Val Diz would be either Fresses/Paranoid or Henri to Val Claret, then Bus to Le Lac, then pick up Chaudannes.

@TommyJ, You have to go the long way (or take a bus fron Val Claret). But from the top of Bellvarde ski to Borsat lift and then ski a gentle blue into Val Claret. If you leave La Daille using that bubble take Tommeuses next and ski down Henri to Val Claret. Both 15-20 mins from the top of the Val lifts. From Val Claret - its Tichot then Grattalu then blue piste Lac or red Merles to Grand Huit then down the blue to Lac, about 30 mins from VC to Lac. Or get the bus from VC to Lac if its cold - 5 mins.

The middle part of trolles which you have to take after combe folle is not a particularly difficult (though sometimes a bit bumpy and narrow but not steep). You cut right missing out the last steep pitch you then get chaudannes.

Just an update for those interested in the L'Altaviva apartment. They were excellent, if you have ever stayed in a French ski apartment this will be Like stepping into the Ritz! Almost brand new fitted out to a high standard with the benifit of a nice size swimming pool. The best bit is the location you literally step outside the boot room (where you have your own dedicated locker with boot warmers) on to the piste with direct access to the gondola. The apartment we had was huge for just 3 of us. The only downside was though there were two bathrooms both with good showers, there was only one toilet which was not too bad for us but if the apartment was at capacity of 6 it would be a pain. The only other thing that would be nice would be a bar area in the nice lounge, they did have some kind of local food or drink demo every night but a bar would have kept people down there socialising which is always a downside of an apartment you never really get to meet other skiers. My initial fears of it being in a bit of a remote location were unfounded it does not take long to get over to Le lac or even on towards Val
Alll in all highly recommend.
