Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pamporovo advice for family

My wife and myself are seasoned skiers but we are on the look out for an affordable Christmas trip with our two children aged 9 and 6.

We don’t have the same availability of holidays from Belfast or even Dublin so prices to the usual spots are high.

I can get a deal for £2400.00 for the whole family incl H/B and all ski packs. Very good price but snow looks average and small resort.

On plus side never been to Bulgaria so a new country to tick off.

Thoughts people?

@johnboy, I did go there with my family back over the New Year 91/92 and it was certainly cheap and good for what we wanted. I believe they’ve extended the skiing a bit, but it was limited back then and I could ski the whole resort in less than a day. We had a big dump of snow, so that helped. I can’t advise on what it’s like now or how much more there is to ski now. I wouldn’t go back, but as I say it did the job back then.

Being 'seasoned skiers' you'll likely get bored quickly.

The area has been extended a fair bit, even a bus ride out to Chepelare, but it's still quite limited and snow can be a real issue ...... unless they've already got a decent base I'd be wary.

Kids'll probably love it.

Balkan Holidays is the best TO, all things considered.

Bulgaria ticked a box for us when the credit crunch hit and was actually one of the best holidays we've had.

Hotel- good
Food- Acceptable
Price - Low
Quality of people in the hotel who we skied with - great

I went in january 2010 and when we arrived the resort looked like the pennines-more green and brown than white! It did snow on the 3rd day so some pistes were skiable but even the first timers found it limited. That may have been a one off but it's a risk.

Cheers folks,

Managed to get a cracking deal to Sauze D’Oulx so no Bulgaria!
